Heard a lot about this, great reviews and generally fully booked but ultimately a letdown
Pros:

Great staff, especially the front of house team. Polite, smart, professional and willing to help. Beautiful facade and exterior areas, good adaptive reuse of space explaining the architectural awards the hotel has won. Good instructional material highlighting the architectural and historical features. Clean and neat rooms. Gym is high quality for this kind of shophouse hotel. Note the swimming pool is only for sitting in, not for swimming, due to its depth, but still kudos for creativity.

Cons:

Generic small dimly lit rooms, could be any hotel room in any country. No Peranakan flavour, eg decorative tiles, vases, etc in the rooms. Only the outside eg lobby, atrium, facade etc looks nice. The problem is this is a large hotel and it is difficult to decorate so many rooms nicely. Ultimately others like Majestic and 5 Heeren do a much better job of achieving a nice atmosphere. Rooms facing Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock have windows but were very noisy. I did not see any attempt to soundproof eg triple glazing on the windows, or acoustic panels. Parking is almost always full, which means the first come first served system is risky eg if one plans to drive the car out often, there may not be parking when you come back.

Pros:

Baba House itself is a beautiful building and the room we had was sensitively modern and comfortable. There was a very good choice of breakfast available. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Bellissimo boutique hotel in stile peranakan in pieno centro. Personale gentile. Camera ampia e letto comodo.bottiglie d’acqua gratuita.

Cons:

La camera, anche se bella e confortevole , mancava di una finestra apribile verso l’esterno, solo ricabate 2 piccole finestre con vista sul cavedio ( chiuse).per me un po opprimente è sensazione di poco riciclo d’aria. Colazione per europei migliorabile

Molto bello
Pros:

Hotel molto carino, moderno e in ottima posizione. Alla sera proiettano anche film sulla parete del giardino esterno. Camera piccolina ma graziosa. Bagno molto bello e moderno.

Cons:

Unica nota stonata è la colazione. Perfetta per gli asiatici ma non per gli europei/americani. Pochissima scelta: Cereali con latte e pane bruscato sono gli unici cibi non asiatici.
