The evening meal was OK.
We were cycling and arrived about 1500, contacted the owner. He kept us waiting outside in the rain for over an hour. He didn't respond to our arrival and dinner requests sent earlier. The room was shabby and dirty. The crockery and cutlery was filthy. He charged us 11Euros for a beer. In the morning even though we had an issue with a bike he moaned and wanted his money before we were ready to leave. AVOID THIS PLACE.
The host's reception. The bicycle storage.
Nothing I am afraid!!!!! Oh the bedding was clean.
The front of the building looked as though it had been closed down for some time, with a large wire mesh fence all round and no access
We were met by a very unfriendly man, after having to shout over a fence, The room was very basic, No real curtains only nets. There were very old notices all over the walls. No tea or coffee facilities.
We had to go out in the late afternoon evening and the outside lighting did not come on until you were very close to the entrance. (Dangerous)
Not a lot to be honnest
Total revamp maybe , from the front the place looks closed down and fenced up
Literally nothing. It doesn’t reflect at all the description or the pictures you see on Booking.com.
It’s lucky to be in such a good position for Velòsceniè bikers
Basically the property itself is awful.
It’s dirty, they charge you 5 euros for putting your bikes inside an old and messy garage.
25 euros for their dinner menu is a rip-off and rooms are old and uncomfortable.
The owner is not kind at all and it takes weeks to him to reply your email. It’s really annoying.
Highly not recommended.
I was an hour late for a specified time check-in. The host was very kind about it. The breakfast croissants were A.MA.ZING!!!! the best I've ever had!
I didn't have a problem with it but the shower was really narrow. Some folks may not be able to get in it.
Can’t think of one thing.
The host was the most inviting and uncomfortable person to be with. You come out of your car, weary tired, and he just stares at you. When does a hotel charge for parking in the middle of the countryside? I asked him about where we could have dinner and he told me that if I wanted dinner I should’ve called ahead. I told him I was asking for recommendations he didn’t have any because he was afraid what he would recommend I might not like. I just wanted the name of an open restaurant that was close by. This place hasn’t changed since the 50s or 60s. No coffee or tea in rooms. Television got one channel and that was hard to get then we lost that. Towels made of sandpaper, and instead of soap two little sachets of something undefinable. Stay away!
Bed was clean and comfortable.
Outbuilding for cycle storage.
Breakfast was OK
The limited accomodation available around Mortain must be the only thing keeping this place going. The whole place has a dilapidated atmosphere but that could be overlooked were it not for the host. The warning signs were there with all the rules around ordering dinner (don't bother trying) and limited strict arrival times. The owner is so unbelievably confrontational! We sent a message in advance regarding our arrival time and requesting dinner. Got no response. When we arrived he launched into us with a tirade about why wasn't providing the dinner, which I struggled to understand but the gist of it was that it was all my fault. "OK" I said, "we'll get something in Mortain", but he wouldn't let it go and kept on ranting about the message that I had sent and had I written it or used a translation tool etc. Even if the message wasn't clear (and I'm sure it was) he should have messaged back to say "can't do that" or whatever.
Breakfast cost almost double what we've been paying elsewhere.
The same attitude continued when checking out. He demanded completion of his own feedback form and he started questioning which box I had ticked. You couldn't make it up!
Nothing
The whole "hotel" is terrible. It was filthy dirty and stank of damp through out. In all my years I've never stayed anywhere worse. In addition he charged me over 40 euros for 2 tiny pieces of chicken and chips. Don't stay here.
It was possibile to access the room late with a key code.
the place seemed abandoned at first, nothing to do with pictures showed. Absolutely dirty. The shelf under the toilet-mirror was full of hair, same situation in the shower! There was no toilet paper.
Staff were friendly. Bed was clean.
Furniture and decor were dated. Shelf in bathroom and toilet seat broken. Room by patio with curtains that people could see through when I was in bed. The breakfast was skimpy for 11 euro and the event meal at 25 euro was robbery. Room was by external door and patio and on the Saturday night a wedding party were coming and going to around 4am. Knowing a wedding party was there I should have been given a room out of the way.
