Decent budget stay supporting local economy; superior / deluxe rooms are best and worth the upgrade
Pros:

This is a decent budget hotel. The room quality, though, varies significantly. I would recommend getting the superior/deluxe rooms. The base level rooms appeared to be marginal. The breakfast was good - eggs, rice and beans, toast. They have coffee and tea available, which doesn't happen much in Costa Rica. We were able to walk from here to see the sights of San Jose or it's a short Uber ride. Good restaurants within walking distance - enjoyed https://sabordecalle.com/ Kevin - the night desk clerk was awesome.

Cons:

Our room was clean, but some of the common areas needed cleaning and it did happen while were there. Some towels were good; others were synthetic material that were difficult to use to dry your body.

Pros:

I had trouble with wifi and internet the whole time. There were no towels in the room and I when asked for a towel , I was given a little damp towel .

Cons:

The floor boards were squeaky. Fan was noisy and no internet even with data on and no wifi.
