Everything about this hotel is designed so that you could almost run it without staff. You pre checkin in online. If staff aren’t present when you arrive, you ring them on an iPad in your desired language. You self lock up your luggage if you’re early and you also check out via QR code. The staff (when I called them or if I saw them onsite - were lovely). The hotel has a coin laundry. It is a bit further from the station than we usually stay but still very easy to walk to. We also walked to Sensō-Ji temple and surrounding areas from here. It is down this little street/alleyway though so we did walk by it a few times lol. Our room even had a hair straightener and hair curler 🤯
Something I was looking forward to but didn’t really work in our favour: no staff present. We rang the staff when we arrived early - this was easy and they were lovely. Told us we could lock up our baggage. Unfortunately tourists who use this area if they use it wrong, the empty spaces where we could’ve self locked our baggage up was locked. Tried to call staff via the iPad again, didn’t get through this time and had to wait. Tried again and they had to call staff to site visit. Had to wait for arrival. Staff arrived to fix the issues - which they did and were lovely. It just unfortunately wasn’t the greatest start to our stay after travelling. If the hotel had staff onsite this portion would’ve been easier. But again if the locker area had been used correctly, we probably wouldn’t have had this issue. An idea to staff is to have instructions in Japanese and English and any other language you prefer in the locker room, since I believe we and others have no clue in this area without staff help.
Minn Asakusa is a great choice if you need accommodation for family needs. The room was large enough for a family of 4, nice shower/bathroom, small kitchen, and enough space for luggage. Check-in online was very simple, and also have luggage storage upon check-out. Despite some comments saying you cannot open a window, this isn't an issue, rooms are bright from daylight, and are well ventilated. Location is also great being walking distance to Senso-ji, plenty of shops and restaurants in the vicinity, also close distance to the metro Kuramae. If you don't need to be located in the busy districts of Tokyo, this is an ideal choice for a less busy area with plenty to offer, and also direct access via metro to Narita airport (about 55min travel time).
Nothing negative to say, everything met our expectations. A super bonus would be if Minn Asakusa would be able to accept luggage when being shipped, but it's not a big deal, there is Yamato Transport about 500m from the property.
Location was great. Cool little spot in Asakusa close to the Ginza subway line which was awesome for Ueon park and Ginza. Kids loved the bunk bed. Mattress were great quality, lovely firm and comfortable futons. Great area for shoes and some bag storage. Shower room was very tidy and I loved that it had a hair straightener and curling irons available. Hot plate was great and kitchen stocked with enough crockery and cutlery. We left our bags in the luggage room on our last day and went back to the accommodation to get them and eat a packed lunch in the communal “cafe” area which was awesome to be able to do.
There were four of us staying and it was little with no natural light. Room got hot and bedding was synthetic. aircon only dropped to 20’ which made sleeping uncomfortable esp in bottom bunk against the wall and two people in the bed. I saw into other rooms that had natural light so it may have just been our room (301). Little to no lighting over cooking bench. Some tea and coffee, and a tea towel to dry dishes would have been handy. The laundry was 400¥ per load then 100¥ for 10min in the drier. There was no coin machine available at the facility. Other Minns we have stayed at offer a free laundry room.
Walkable; clean; great amenities; comfortable beds
Thin walls, could hear noises from neighbors; expensive, and charged extra for later check out
Fantastic apartment hotel, second time staying and would come back again. Easy subway ride to Ginza and elsewhere
