Pros:

Le cadre est magnifique. Un vrai palais chettiar. Belle chambre calme et confortable

Cons:

L'hôtel a prélevé à l'avance le montant de la chambre alors qu'il était inscrit sans prepaiement et sans prévenir.Le montant prélevé etait d'une quinzaine d'euros de plus que celui indiqué lors de la réservation !!
Le petit déjeuner correct mais on aurait pu sattendre à mieux pour un palace.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful old mansion
Pros:

Very relaxing and charming old mansion. Perfect for a visit in Kanadukhatan. Room spacious and comfortable. Tasslin at the reception is really kind.

Cons:

Reception not really pleasant experience. We asked them to book a taxi to go to Madurai and they tried to charge us more than normal price, almost 90 euro. Luckily we had a couple that was there that told them the amount they payed for the same service. Background music starts at 7am… too early as you can hear it from the room. Quality of breakfast can be increased for the payed amount.

Passable experience. Not deserving of a 5 star rating!
Pros:

The property as such is beautiful and very well maintained. Very clean as well. The old chettiar mansion vibe is definitely there.

Cons:

The staff is hit and miss. We were not welcomed with any warmth. They just went straight to payment. Didn’t offer even a glass of water. We saw other guests being welcomed with vermillion and shawls. But my wife had to remind them. The rooms were not ready even though we informed early about our time of arrival. We were asked to get lunch in the restaurant attached to the property, but it was full and the staff was very inefficient. They said we will send the welcome drink to the restaurant. Was conveniently forgotten. The manager then came and apologised and within 2 minutes the welcome drinks came magically. Lunch was hit and miss. Nothing too good. Dinner was okay but we were told to give order by 9.45 pm. I have stayed in a few 5 star hotels and they serve you 24/7. Breakfast buffet was whole another story. We were told to come at 7.30 AM to avoid crowd. So we did and nothing was setup. No milk for cereal. Then we ordered dosa for the kid and it never cane even after several reminders. My wife had to go to the kitchen and ask what needs to be done to get a dosa. 1 hour for a dosa!!!! The staff lady at the reception again forgot the return gift and somehow we got it because we came back for a family pic and another staff remembered! For the money we pay we expect proper service. I paid 36k for two rooms for one night and still was not happy with the service. The restaurant also takes external customers so in house booking doesn’t get preferential treatment. They were fully booked and they could have thus stopped accepting external bookings for a day or two to manage. Overall a very passable experience. Got some good pics at the property but you don’t need to stay for that.. Not recommended

The food was outstanding. Breakfasts were comforting and delicious, while the non-veg Chettinad lunch spread was a true highlight, authentic flavours brilliantly executed by Chef Radha. Excellent service at the restaurant, with special thanks to Sitthik for his detailed explanations of each dish.

Heartfelt thanks to the Lotus Palace Manager, Kathiravan, for his warm hospitality and for sharing fascinating insights into the property’s history.

Highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking to experience the history of this place
Pros:

The place was a fully restored classically built mansion from about 250 years back. It was very well restored and upgraded, while retaining the older elements. So it modern in its facilities and ancient in it overall layout the structure. It was perfect for us, as it gave the experience of the times from hundreds of years back

Peaceful calm and traditional stay
Pros:

I liked the stay very much and the hotel experience was real good. This place combines the traditional essence with luxury stay.
Right from the reception, welcome drinks, entering the room, restaurants, all were pretty good.
Staff were very helpful and kind.
Food was traditional and tasty.
Complimentary traditional Chettinad snacks were really yum.
