Not pleasant at check in.

Location is excellent, walking distance to Nikishj Marker

Cons:

I arrived the hotel at 1:20pm, that is 40 minutes before check in time. The lady that checked me in said I have to wait 40 min, even though the room is already available. I asked if I can please get my room. She said I have to pay an extra 1000 yens. I have never seen this happen before. Every other hotel would accommodate me if the room is available, plus it’s only 40 min grace period. Eventually I paid an extra 1000 yens as I was so tired after a long traveling day.

Ideal stay close to Gion.
Pros:

The room was a lot larger than it looks on Booking.com. We were more than comfortable. The hotel is a very short walk across the river from the old Kyoto district of Gion and there was very easy access to Fushimi Inari shrine. We made good use of the complimentary coffee machine in reception.

The Hotel is worth coming back
Pros:

Centrally located and availability of hot drinks at the lobby all day long

Cons:

You always have to pass by Basement 1 from your room then go up to 1st floor to exit the hotel
