Nothing.
Hotel broke contract when they withdrew breakfast after taking booking. Do not trust.
The hotel was clean and tidy and the location was very beautiful. There were limited staff were also friendly.
The hotel restaurant was closed, although I was informed before my stay. There were limited options around the hotel for food. The driveway to the hotel needs a little care as it’s quite bumpy.
Amazing breakfast
Staff were helpful
The hotel had removed the bar and no lounge as was closed, they have removed the heart from the hotel no atmosphere.
Lovely atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings. Great team and delicious full English breakfast, would definitely recommend and stay there again!!❤️❤️
Friendly staff, very welcoming. The bed was very comfortable, the room was ok.
The place did not feel very warm or lived in,making a rather empty and dated feel. Food was disappointing. No alcohol and red wine alternative unavailable. No access to lounge. Driveway very bumpy due to potholes.
Lovely hotel. Good food, very friendly, very clean. What more could you want……
Very good
Very quiet. Missed a bar.
Good location en route to Scotland
Short on relaxing communal space .. alcohol free hotel.
Breakfast was delicious.
Beautiful setting and helpful friendly staff.
Very friendly staff, very clean and efficient. Lovely location
But too far from Alston
Stunning grounds and very friendly staff, not far from ashgill force waterfall.
Bumpy road on entrance
The location is superb, stunning. The hotel is beautiful and the welcome could not be better. Staff were attentive and the rooms were spotless. This was our second visit and we will be sure to return.
N a.
Wonderful setting
Room smelt a little damp. The room was situated adjacent/above the kitchen vent which was loud at 6:00am
Rooms where not done everyday
Nice Country House Hotel, understandably out of town, in pretty location by a river. All the staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Nice food in restaurant and for breakfast. Safe motorcycle parking.
I arrived after a long motorbike trip looking forward to a refreshing pint. To my surprise despite being sold as a country house hotel which comes with certain assumptions, the hotel is alcohol free as the owner does not want to profit from alcohol sales for faith reasons.
I was informed that if I went back out to the nearest town I could buy alcohol to be drunk with a meal in the restaurant but that this could not be consumed in other public areas of the hotel. Non alcoholic beer, cider and wine were available to buy.
The owner can of course impose whatever restrictions he / she wishes but I think that the lack of a alcohol sale in a venue dubbed a country house hotel should be clearly stated on the booking.com and hotel website as failing to even mention this, to give the option of buying and bringing wine or beer, is misleading. Perhaps it should be badged as a religious retreat rather than a Country House Hotel with the implied expectations. Being honest up front may deter guests from booking which I suspect is why the listing is economic with the actualité.
Not a deal breaker but disappointing.
