Pros:

The room was small, but it had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly, and the location was great—there’s a 7-Eleven right across the street.

Cons:

The only issue was a persistent sewage smell coming from the bathroom. The bathroom itself was very clean, but the smell was clearly coming from the drain. I still used it, but that part was quite disappointing.

Wonderful and comfortable stay with great staff, good location and clean facilities.
Cons:

There were a few times where I needed a bowl or chopsticks or forks. But the downstairs restaurant wasn’t able to provide these. Slightly inconvenient.

Misleading ratings
Pros:

Staff was polite and accommodated our request for early cancellation. I really appreciated the staff in every way.

Cons:

The room was poorly designed for twin beds. One bed was against the wall with no charging points around it. Space between the 2 beds was extremely narrow making it difficult to move. The shower design is poor - if I have to use the water controls then I need to either sit on the chair given or bend down. No hooks to hang clothes in the bathroom. Lighting in the room was inadequate and at night there was some distant noise because of which one of us could not sleep. It is a business hotel so they don't have room service and everything needs to be brought from the reception area. Breakfast options were limited. Amazed at how this hotel is rated 9. It doesn't even deserve a 5!

We were so unhappy that we shifted hotels in Kyoto to a significantly better hotel at the same price.
