Shangri-La Karesansui Hotel

It feels more like a homestay rather than hotel. very cozy, local feeling. love the breakfast that Liu Liu made every morning - changes every morning. Plus point is their resident husky Xiao Ha who would greet us every morning.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious and clean, and the location was excellent. What made our experience truly special was the host and his team — they were incredibly kind, helpful, and caring throughout our stay.

We experienced altitude sickness during our trip, and they took very good care of us and made sure we were comfortable. The host also personally arranged pick-up and drop-off at both the train station and the airport, even at 6am, which we really appreciated.

Another thoughtful touch was preparing breakfast for us to take away when we had to leave early. The breakfast was delicious and very healthy.

Highly recommend this hotel for both the comfort and the exceptional hospitality!

The stay was very comfortable and pleasant. The place is very tastefully done and has very serene and calm vibes. The staff is very friendly and are at your service all the time. The breakfast was very delicious and wholesome.

Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter. Die Lage ist direkt in der Altstadt. Eine Abholung vom Bahnhof wird angeboten und ist zu empfehlen, da es das erste Mal etwas schwer zu finden sein kann. Ich kam mit einer Erkältung an und sie haben mir ungefragt einen Sauerstoff inhalator zur Verfügung gestellt und sich auch sonst liebevoll um uns gekümmert. Die Mitarbeiter haben Englisch Kenntnisse.

I chose this accommodation because I wanted to stay in Shangri-La old town, and because the publicity looked attractive - and I was very pleased that I did. It offers all modern amenities, and yet it blends perfectly into the local environment. It is in a quiet corner of the old town, yet only a minute or two away from the bustle. It is very comfortable, clean and well-kept, and all of the rooms have an individual character - this is not a typical, modern concrete block! Shangri-La can be very cold at night, even during the months when it is warm by day. However, the room was deliciously warm, with floor-heating. The hosts' answer to every request is "yes". They will prepare whatever you wish for breakfast and serve it at the time of your preference. They can recommend some great eating houses. Upon request, they will arrange excursions, car with driver. They are also willing to pick you up, and drop you off, at the airport which is not very distant. All in all, this address made for a very comfortable few days and it was so much more pleasant to return to a place in the old town at the end of a full day's sight-seeing.

The hosts showed us incredible hospitality and helped organize trips the area. Our rooftop suite was lovely, and our family of four felt well taken care of. We were offered a ride to the airport by the host and breakfasts were accompanied by great European style barista coffee.

Kleines Familien-geführtes Hotel in der Altstadt von Shangri-La. Es liegt in einer ruhigen Straße und doch ist alles bequem zu Fuß erreichbar.
Das Ehepaar, das das Hotel führt ist extrem super nett und hilfsbereit. Und jeden Tag gibt es ein anderes, frisch zubereitetes Frühstück.

Good food in a very nice setting

Our stay at this hotel in Shangri-La was truly memorable, thanks to the incredibly kind and helpful hosts, Liu Liu and Xiao Zhou, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

From the moment we arrived, their excellent service was evident. They provided complimentary pick-up and drop-off at the train station, which made our journey so much smoother. We were also warmly welcomed with thoughtful gifts, a gesture that immediately made us feel cared for.

One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious home-cooked breakfast prepared each morning — hearty, comforting, and a perfect start to the day in the cool Shangri-La weather.

What really stood out was their attention to detail. After a long day of sightseeing, we returned to find that they had already turned on the heater in our room, ensuring a warm and cozy environment for us to relax in. Xiao Zhou also brought us warm milk before bedtime which was truly awesome!

It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shangri-La and would definitely stay here again.

Everything was perfect

Nice decor- very welcoming- staff went out of their way to be helpful. The rooms are quite nice - underfloor heating and a heater if needed. We had two rooms - ours had a large bathtub in it. My children’s room - directly below us just had a shower room.
The beds were super comfy. Breakfast was super. No choices however. If you are vegetarian you must warm in advance as there is meat served at breakfast. The dining space is pretty cool. There was lots of fresh fruit and water provided in every room. It’s a five minute walk to the main town square. At the end of our stay we were given a lift to the train. Station - about 10 mins away.

Our stay here was absolutely wonderful. The hotel felt incredibly cozy and welcoming from the very first moment. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable – they were exceptionally kind, thoughtful, and always ready to help.

Every morning we were treated to a delicious, fresh breakfast, and in the evenings they even brought us warm milk, which was such a sweet and caring gesture. They also kindly drove us to the train today, which we truly appreciated.

It’s rare to experience such genuine hospitality. We felt very well taken care of throughout our stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone. Thank you so much for everything!

We had such a lovely stay in Shangri-La 🙏From the warm welcome gift (a thoughtful fridge magnet & few keytags) to the tea, biscuits and pastries on arrival, every detail was so special. We loved being able to choose our body wash scent and breakfast the next morning was absolutely amazing.

The hosts truly went above and beyond💗, even helping take us to the airport for our early flight, which we really appreciated.

Had such a great stay at this hotel! The breakfast was really good with a nice variety, and everything tasted fresh. What stood out the most was the service — the staff were super friendly and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile.
They even went the extra mile by serving us tea and fruits, which was such a thoughtful touch. You can really feel that they genuinely care about their guests and are willing to go out of their way to help.
Really appreciate the hospitality here. Would definitely come back again!
