We had been looking forward to staying at the Nevis Estate because we come to Perth often but usually stay at the Best Western in central Perth which was fully booked that weekend. The Nevis Estate is beautifully renovated and the grounds are beautiful but it's bit of a walk to downtown Perth. The Ardbeg room was large and very comfortable and very clean although the bathroom was very small. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The breakfast was superb and the two staff members on duty were very friendly and professional.
We felt bombarded by e-mails as our stay was getting closer with requests for mandatory personal information such as date of birth as well as very specific instructions about where and how to park, that shoes were not allowed in the hotel, etc. Upon arriving, we had to place our shoes in a daycare style cubby system and were provided with one size fits all slippers to wear in the hotel. We were not allowed to wear our own slippers even though I was worried about wearing the provided slippers on the slippery staircase. We opted to wear socks throughout our stay.
Unfortunately, there was a sweet scent and a "calming" soundtrack piped throughout the hotel and into our room which couldn't be turned off but mercifully went off at 9:00 pm. Given that the hotel was largely unoccupied as it was late fall, the music gave the hotel a haunted quality and the scent would be a problem for those allergic to perfumes. Also, those who are light sleepers should be warned that a major train track is located on the edge of the property and at least 5 trains went past during our stay with whistles blowing at the nearby railway crossing. Luckily, we enjoy the sound of trains and were able to get back to sleep each time. Apparently, ear plugs are provided but we didn't see any.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff member on duty when we arrived was extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable.
One minor detail: other than the back of the door, there was nowhere in the bathroom to hang towels. I found the arrangements around check-in annoying. I wrote toa sk if we could check-in two hours before the official time and was told that this would cost an additional $30, but that "complimentary" check-in an hour early was available. I felt this was inappropriate in a small hotel where our room cost almost $400. In the end, we were allowedinto our room at the time we requested, but the experirnce left something of a bad taste.
The estate is beautiful, you have everything you need for comfort.
Soak bathtub, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, beautiful decor, large garden all around with big trees, swimming salt water pool And the staff made me feel at home.

Zimmer ansprechend; sehr gutes, individuell zubereitetes Frühstück (aber nur kleine Auswahl).
Parkplatz ohne Gebühr.
Sehr kalt eingestellte Klimaanlage konnte nicht individuell je Zimmer geregelt werden; es blieb daher sehr kühl.
Es wird langsam Zeit für eine Renovierung.
Tout était parfait, le charme du lieu, les équipements, la propreté impeccable, excellent petit déjeuner.

Our room albeit very comfortable only has one chair to sit and it was a pod chair that once you fell into , you need help getting out. For a senior like myself it was restrictive.

Beautifully appointed rooms. Beds super comfortable. Bathrooms large and nicely designed. Had high end appliances in bathroom and kitchenette ( Dyson dryer and Nespresso machine).

Beautiful Victorian home that’s been converted into the boutique hotel it is today. Charming town with many lovely shops
No complaints but if you have walking issues be sure to request the suite on the main floor to avoid the steps to the 2 nd floor
