Honestly, I didn’t find anything that I personally liked during my stay.
Extremely disappointing experience — not suitable for guests with health sensitivities
I stayed at Mastiff Select Mandavya Dharamkot, Himachal Pradesh, India, from October 30 to November 5, 2025.
• October 30 – November 2: booked directly with the hotel (4 nights)
• November 3 – 5: booked through Booking.com (3 nights, non-refundable)
On October 27, before check-in, the hotel asked me to pay half of the total amount in advance, which I did.
At check-in, I asked if I could cancel the Booking.com reservation (Nov 3–5) to try another place, but the hotel refused, so I paid the full amount of ₹7,800 per night for 7 nights (₹54,600 total).
Shortly after arriving, I immediately noticed a strong chemical smell in the room and hallway that caused headache, fatigue, and breathing difficulty. I informed the front desk about my thyroid and chemical sensitivity and requested that no chemical cleaning products be used.
To make the room tolerable, I cleaned the walls and floor myself using water and natural scents, but the smell persisted. The hotel also did not allow me to open the window, saying it was because of monkeys, leaving no ventilation or fresh air.
That night, I tried to stay but woke up with a severe headache. On October 31, I decided to check out early due to the health impact, even though I expected no refund. This was my first time ever cancelling a hotel stay.
The manager later refunded the direct-booking nights (Oct 31 – Nov 2) but refused to refund Nov 3 – 5, saying it was Booking.com’s responsibility. After more than 10 follow-ups, Booking.com confirmed that a refund was possible under health-related circumstances if approved by the hotel. I shared my doctor’s letter explaining my condition, but the hotel still refused, saying Booking.com wouldn’t allow it — which Booking.com denied.
Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, I am a consumer who paid in advance for hotel services.

I had an amazing stay at Mastiff Hotel in Dharamkot. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and always went out of their way to assist me with anything I needed whether it was arranging a taxi or taking care of small details in my room. The hotel was always clean and well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I truly appreciated their hospitality and the personal attention they gave throughout my stay. Highly recommended!
