Everything. We went to an event at Powderham Castle and this was the only decent looking accommodation I could find locally that didn’t require the sale of a kidney.
I was expecting a pub of kinds which this wasn’t and it exceeded all of my expectations by a mile and some.
It didn’t hurt that we were upgraded but having had a proper nosey all of the rooms were lovely. The bed was sooo comfortable and the towels were soo soft. The cafe/ restaurant that’s part of it was fantastic and it felt like being on a proper holiday in the med but with friendlier staff and in the UK.
I honestly couldn’t rate this place high enough. I wouldn’t have travelled to Devon if it weren’t for the event but having visited this place in the little village of Topsham, I’m already making plans to go back.
Everything was perfect. I mean seriously, I need to take lessons on how they do their laundry, when I say the towels were soft and fluffy (and HUGE proper sized towels) I’m not exaggerating. The towels alone were enough to put a huge smile on my face. Faultless
The flat was not to our liking as we’re used to room 1 !
Very central to Topsham, the parking was handy too. Very quiet.
There isnt space, but a sofa would be nice. But not an issue. I would still return.
This hotel is in prime position in Topsham which we really liked. The room was comfortable and the staff were helpful on the whole. We had breakfast each day and that was excellent.
The fact that there is no reception when the restaurant is not open is a drawback. We would prefer to have someone in the hotel all the time. Letting yourself in in the evening is a bit creepy.
I wonder if the hotel is resting on its laurels a bit and it is quite expensive. Our room was pleasant but there are somethings that will need a refresh before too long e.g.the corridor and stair carpets. It is lovely to be right in the middle of Topsham though. and we would book again.
Good location
Small room, no tea making facilities or ironing facilities in room, had to go down the corridor to a communal small kitchen , which also had a communal ironing board.
Not that we expected for the price.
Lovely relaxing stay great location
Good selection of local shops
Not a fan of wet rooms
Clean and central
Ate in the restaurant very small portions high prices
Brilliant location, good parking
Not much outside space ,restricted menu and expensive
Central location with parking. Lovely housekeeper who rectified all the faults she was able to sort out for us.
Remote check-in, no front of house, room small and very warm, thick and heavy duvet, no way to turn towel rail off or down. Admittedly we stayed during the heatwave but it was forecast. No signage from room to Galley Room.
Lovely location very comfortable
Very central, lovely dinning room, nice lounge for meeting friends, lovely friendly staff.
Very comfortable, quiet, and perfect location in the centre of Topsham. The beds in particular are extremely comfortable.
It is also very thoughtful to have a separate breakfast room available for guests to use.
There is nothing to dislike. One small problem (which could easily be resolved) is that the shower head in the bathroom was slipping and needed to be tightened up.
Great position . Friendly staff. Comfy bed
Nothing
