Perfect location
Nothing
Location is perfect for exploring Topsham. Food was very nice. Thoroughly deserving of their Michelin 2026 recognition.
Room a little dark
Last minute booking for one night we were lucky to get a room, the room was fine but what makes this place are the people. All were polite and very efficient, Georgie was particularly good dealing with customers and a busy restaurant and constantly checking around for anybody that needed anything and cleaning up on the way. Worth two to three employees in other places we have stayed!
The food itself was delicious and the fish deli was great.
The restaurant isn't open "all the time" and I think because of this it is able to maintain the quality of chefs and other staff it has.
Leaving
Fabulous location and good clean room
Good location
Lovely location, friendly staff, nice rooms and access to a whole room with tea, coffee, fresh water and cereal!
Slow WiFi
This is a lovely little hotel, great facilities and friendly staff.
It’s a little pricey but full of lovely things.
Venue was lovely as was breakfast. Road to car park a tad challenging but so lovely to have a guaranteed parking space in the centre of Topsham
Loved it all….
Easy check in and clean facilities
Appreciated duvet being replaced by a sheet in the hot weather - would've been useful to be asked about it on first night too. Liked option of making own cup of tea with fresh milk in galley, rather than plastic milk sachets. Also complimentary basic breakfast so we could get out before it got too hot.
Nowhere to sit to eat in the galley and only one chair in bedroom, another would've been useful.
Lovely big room and bed. Shared kitchen alongside to make breakfast / coffee /tea. Very friendly staff. free parking at back of hotel.
It was very hot weather and 1 of the 2 windows could not be opened. But there was a good big fan.
On the main street, so quite a lot of traffic noise which we couldn't reduce by shutting the window overnight because of the heat,
Friendly, comfortable and individual
Nothing it was great
The staff were lovely, really helpful, service throughout was excellent. Great old building, dining area modern and fresh, good food selection and liked the ‘in house’ fish monger. Bedroom was huge, bedding and towels seems good quality. Overall we were very pleasantly surprised. Originally I had thought it might be a bit expensive but quickly revised that opinion after we arrived and saw what you got for your money. Oh - I forgot to mention well stocked guest kitchen was also a pleasant surprise.

Comfortable bed
Be careful accessing the carpark. If you have a larger car like me turning down Fore Street is quite a hazard to your alloy wheels 🛞
Everything. We went to an event at Powderham Castle and this was the only decent looking accommodation I could find locally that didn’t require the sale of a kidney.
I was expecting a pub of kinds which this wasn’t and it exceeded all of my expectations by a mile and some.
It didn’t hurt that we were upgraded but having had a proper nosey all of the rooms were lovely. The bed was sooo comfortable and the towels were soo soft. The cafe/ restaurant that’s part of it was fantastic and it felt like being on a proper holiday in the med but with friendlier staff and in the UK.
I honestly couldn’t rate this place high enough. I wouldn’t have travelled to Devon if it weren’t for the event but having visited this place in the little village of Topsham, I’m already making plans to go back.
Everything was perfect. I mean seriously, I need to take lessons on how they do their laundry, when I say the towels were soft and fluffy (and HUGE proper sized towels) I’m not exaggerating. The towels alone were enough to put a huge smile on my face. Faultless
