Pros:

Ample space in my room, and very well furnished at that, with a daybed and very nice lighting. Very proper spa with onsen and cold tubs, along with a good sauna. Location is alright, however I can't really think of better for Kyoto as everywhere has tradeoffs.

Lovely hotel with traditional facade and entrance, but modern facilities.
Pros:

Lovely hotel, with traditional facade and entrance in front of a modern block. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of amenities. Though a little way from the main tourist sites, it is very central and well placed for transport options. A bonus was the hotel onsen, which was never busy and provided a relaxing soak after a long day of sight-seeing.

Cons:

Smoking room was directly under the women's onsen, so you sometime got the smell of cigarettes wafting up.

Parfait sans le petit déjeuner
Pros:

Beautiful traditional Japanese experience with all the conveniences of a modern hotel.
Pros:

The attention to detail was exceptional. The spa was beautiful. The building and its combination of modern Japanese architecture with a classical entry. The breakfast ritual was so inspiring. The service was friendly and implacably precise.

Cons:

there was nothing not to like about this beautiful place.

Pros:

Room was great and the bed was very comfortable. The location was excellent, in walking distance from shopping area and well connected with the nearby train station. Would definitely return.

Cons:

Staff weren't always at reception, a couple of times we were standing waiting for a few minutes, as maybe they didn't know we were there. Once we did speak to staff, they were friendly and helpful.

Pros:

Some of the negative comments on this site, I am not sure what they were expecting. Location of the hotel was prime as we were able to travel to different tourist sites with no hassle via either train or taxi. Train station is about 5-7 mins from the hotel. The public bath is a huge BONUS! especially in hot summer, when you are all sweaty and muggy from walking 10km in humid streets of Kyoto, you definitely need more than a quick shower. The size of the public bath facility isn't big. However, having two warm pools and a cold plunge, and a dry sauna at 90'C, that's really all you need. But, time it wisely though, you might want to avoid busy times. I found when they just open at 3PM and later in the evening like 10PM were the reasonable time to visit.

Hotel being built on an traditional kyoto house, it also offers very unique experience where you can sit and relax in their remodeled old kyoto house lounge where you can drink, snack or even just chill.
