Perfect location
Shower in the bedroom
Not hot enough
Good facilities and great location - walking distance to train station, food options and shopping areas
Nothing
Great location next to the major shopping street and walking distance from Kamogawa river. The reception desk, lounge and breakfast are all in the traditional Kyoto house and the rooms are in the modern building just behind it. Pretty cool mix of traditional vibes and modern comfort.
Everything was great.
Emplacement.
Gentillesse t attention du personnel
Onsen
Salles de petit déjeuner.
The room size, the hotel location, the facilities: spa, library, lounge and bar were superb.
Our room was in the ground floor (room 109 if I am not mistaken) and we could hear the water running whenever anyone on top of our room took a shower. The noise was quite loud to the point of waking us up in the morning. This is the only negative experience for this otherwise amazing hotel.
Mix between traditional and modern
Good location the rooms were find
Reception needs to be refurbished, felt like we were checking in a hostel.
Loved the Japanese entrance and lounge
Everything! It was a beautiful small hotel in a great location and the Onsen was amazing
The hotel is clean and compact, offering all the necessities for travellers. The rooms are fairly spacious. The staff organized a baby guard on the bed on our request. The Japanese bento breakfasts were a highlight of our stay!
The cleaning could’ve been done better, especially in the bathrooms. Unfortunately we found other visitors hair on the floor in our room, which would stick to our baby when he would crawl around the room. The entrance to the hotel is a bit of a pain with a stroller.
Super hotel. Staff international.

The excitement ahead of our stay in Kyoto
One does not typically expect a stay in Kyoto to include a front-row seat to a receptionist performing an impromptu, and sadly inadequate, cleaning of one's bathroom. Yet, at Candeo Hotels Kyoto Karasuma Rokkaku, the boundaries of "service" are redefined with a boldness that borders on the avant-garde.
Upon discovering that our room had skipped the "cleaning" portion of its daily schedule, we were treated to the sight of the front desk staff personally attempting to remedy the hygiene failures with a cloth and, one assumes, a great deal of optimism. Alas, optimism does not sanitize. Faced with an uninhabitable room, we exercised the only sensible option: we left.
What followed was an even more impressive display of corporate gymnastics. The hotel, having verbally acknowledged the disaster and promised a 50% refund of the total stay, suddenly developed a convenient case of amnesia once we were out the door. Through the medium of booking.com, they downgraded their integrity to a mere fraction of the promised refund, characterizing the entire ordeal as a "misunderstanding."
I have spent the better part of my week attempting to engage in a professional dialogue with both the property and booking.com. The hotel, however, has opted for the "Ghosting Protocol"—a strategy where one simply stops responding in the hopes that the disgruntled guest will eventually evaporate.
Be warned: a "Genius Level 3" status on booking.com provides roughly the same protection as a paper umbrella in a typhoon. If you book here, you are paying a premium for the privilege of potentially cleaning your own quarters, followed by a lengthy, one-sided correspondence with a brick wall.
In Kyoto, a city famed for its meticulous attention to detail, Candeo stands out—though for all the wrong reasons. I would prefer not to have spent my holiday as a voluntary auditor of their sanitary lapses, but here we are.
