Fantastic staff and a very comfortable and welcoming lodge. Would definitely stay here again. It is a quick walk to the ski field, and in the evenings the staff provide a very effective drop off and pick up service to and from all restaurants in the village.

The staff was excellent. We enjoyed breakfast every morning and had a soak in the onsen after skiing each day. Transportation was provided on demand around Madarao and we got to try a few great spots for dinner.
Location
A pretty underwhelming breakfast. Very much an Australians-for-Australians kind of place. There are hardly any good places to eat nearby, so it’s perfect if you’re looking to lose weight.
Building was great, rooms a little tight but worked ok. Breakfast nice and the shuttle service was excellent. Happy & friendly staff.
The staff were the best part so friendly and accommodating. The private onsen in the snow was great and the breakfast were always yummy and having gluten free options were great! The drying room was amazing and so big and functional.
The rooms didn’t have much space with our family of 4 and bathrooms were a bit squashed, not a big deal as we were on the mountain most the time and there was extra space downstairs by the fire etc if you needed more space.
Make the breakfast servings a little bigger please 🥰

slight walk away from the shops/restaurants, meaning a little reliant on transport offered by the lodge (they do provide a good service)
Australian owned lodge run largely by Australian twenty somethings. This is not a negative or positive but definitely a different experience than staying at Japanese run and managed accomodation, just depends on your preference

Great location & staff were always willing to help with dinners and luggage deliveries. Onsens are fantastic & a highlight of the property.
Unfortunately we had a couple of lukewarm showers after skiing where the hot water appeared to run out, so this wasn’t ideal. It did heat up later on though.
Great food and comfy rooms. Staff were very accommodating and answered all questions we had. The pick up and drop off service to the local restaurants was also very handy and appreciated.
Great location (ski in ski out), staff so helpful and knowledgeable with logistics getting there and back, gear hire, dining out and local area info. Great facilities with communal area for included breakfast, fireplace and lounges, bookable indoor/outdoor onsens.
Brilliant
Staff were always there to help with anything including shuttles to / from dinner or the bus. The private onsens were lovely and the lodge setup was simple but pleasant for a low key ski vacation. Nice fire always burning!
