4th stay here. Lovely place with perfect views.
Well-decorated, smart and stylish accommodation with a fantastic shower and some lovely wee touches. The shower was fantastic too, no waiting needed for hot water, and the linens are good quality.
It was also easy to access the property despite arriving late/after the stated check-in time (and the staff member who I spoke to about this before my arrival was very helpful and friendly).
The canal/marina location is really interesting with lots of historic sites nearby and popular walks, although I didn't have time to explore so I'm hoping to return, especially as it's such good value. The quietness of the area was a little strange at first but ultimately it was reassuring to be able to park my fully-loaded car within a gated area. It was also well-signposted and access was thoroughly explained in the welcome email.
These aren't factors that mattered to me as a solo traveller but would affect the elderly relatives that I often travel with:
Accessibility isn't super-easy with stairs, heavy doors and narrow doorways due to the age of the building.
I'd assumed that the electric oil heaters on the landing are for guests who want their rooms to be warmer. I didn't see any info on this (although it was late and I could easily have missed it) so maybe a sign alongside them would be handy for guests that especially feel the cold.
The fact that it just had a handful of Rooms; which meant it was quiet.
Very basic breakfast choices….. sliced bread or, sliced bread.
Having locally sourced fresh Eggs would have been nice
The room was gorgeous
The scenery was idyllic
Walked were amazing for the dogs
We didn't sleep at all you hear everyone in the other rooms .talking people slamming doors. Please outside. It was the only negative. People on the hallways .
Unique building by canal basin just before it enters the Clyde. Full of character, building had lots of windows and spacious bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Dog friendly. There is a breakfast room/ lounge on ground floor where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, bread and cereals. No staff generally on site but we met a lady who was stocking up the bread etc and she was very helpful. Fantastic value for money and a short drive ( 15 mins) to Glasgow airport.
Nothing, although mattress was maybe a bit soft.
Nice and quite area. Lovely walks nearby. Room very cozy and large bathroom.
The lighting outside when driving in at night is poor and could be improved.
Very cozy and warm. Bathroom was nice. Sitting area was ideal for having food.
Nothing
Beautifully restored historic property with tastefully decorated and comfortable rooms.
The Custom House is beautifully furnished and absolutely clean. We had a very enjoyable time there. The concept is well thought-out, and you feel very comfortable. Thank you – we would love to come back!
The rooms were clean and the harbour is nice (albeit very quiet). Generally the decor was nice and the bed was comfy.
I have to admit that I found the whole experience of having no one there at all a bit weird. If it was called a hostel or an apartment then I would get it but it’s called a hotel. As a single traveller I felt a bit uneasy that I never met anyone from the hotel and that it was so dark and remote at night with no people about.
We booked as a simple stop off for our journey home. The hotel is immaculately clean and stylishly decorated, sympathetic with the building and area. Our room was lovely with everything we needed. The shared lounge / kitchen is a great space. The complimentary continental breakfast an unexpected treat
We will certainly stay again. Thanks
Quiet, clean, cosy, good instructions to find etc
Breakfast a bit disappointing
Cool property right on the canal. Total freedom with the key safe check in. Comfortable bed and lovely bathroom- modern and nicely decorated.
The communal kitchen was a great touch with bagels for breakfast and coffee machine to use.
Entrance area was unusual but no problems- just make sure you read the instructions the host sends!
