Nice family villa in older resort property between MA and Quepos
Pros:

The Planeta Sano lodge was well priced for our family stay and centrally located between MA and Quepos. The hotel is located up a small, hilly, gravel road off the main road. We had a car - plenty of parking.

We stayed in the separate Villa which was excellent for our family of 5 with separate 2 bedrooms, kitchen (didn’t really need) and living room with giant TV (didn’t use much but nice) and a private outdoor patio with table and chairs and sofa facing garden/forest.

The pool is nice with a waterfall feature spilling into it. We enjoyed swimming.

Cons:

The hotel is clearly aging and is not being super well maintained. In the biblical level rain that occurred when we arrived our villa leaked in 3-4 places requiring bucket/pot. It was really coming down but this should prob be addressed since this is Costa Rica.

To leave the hotel is a 5-10 min walk down the rocky pathway up to the hotel. Fine for us but bit of a chore also.

The grounds could use some upkeep - you can see this place when new was really nice. My Biggest gripe and it’s a significant one was there was only one pool umbrella for 10 chairs. In the blazing hot heat of day this was occupied by a couple and the rest of guests were out of luck on shade. Management should never have let this occur, should either have had someone working on it or had umbrellas in reserve. Perhaps emblematic of the approach they are taking…

Breakfast was OK but didn’t compare to other places…. Not really worth staying for when you could head out to Sodas in Quepos or elsewhere.

Pros:

Die Lage etwas abseits der Hauptstraße, die Ruhe, die Natur, der Pool, Frühstück, Aussicht, Abendessen.
Late checkout klappte Super und war im Rahmen von 2 Stunden sogar kostenfrei möglich

Cons:

Fehlende Handtuchhalter, nur 1 bequemer Sessel auf dem Balkon Hängematte wäre super gewesen.

Good and quiet place to stay away from the touristic funfair.
Pros:

We stayed three nights in room 24 with two queen beds on the ground floor next to the reception. Good airco. The hotel has a quiet location, on a small and partly paved sideway about 300 metres from the busy main road to Manuel Antonio. No traffic noise! Sufficient parking places for our rental car. The breakfast, outside on a terrace with view on the sea and garden was sufficient. Good sleeping quality in nightly hours. Only a short drive from the National Park where was more than sufficient parking place near the entrance.

Cons:

Another time we would prefer a room away from the reception as you always have guests who speak on “party-volume” before six o’clock in the morning waiting for other travellers.
The entrance uphil to the hotel from the busy main road is in a short bend. Arriving and leaving by car is very tricky. The hotel can’t do anything about it, but it would be good when the hotel at least would warn about it when you drive a rental car.

Das Hotel lag etwas abseits von Manuel Antonio. Der Weg dorthin war ziemlich steil. Ein sehr schönes Hotel oben auf dem Berg gelegen, mit einem tollen Ausblick aufs Meer. Wir hatten ein großes Zimmer mit zwei großen Doppelbetten. Das Personal ist sehr nett und freundlich. Zum Frühstück war Buffet, zur Auswahl, Rührei, Reis, Pancake und Obst. Parkplätze waren vorhanden.

Wir waren zu fünft (mit 3 Kindern) in der Villa, einem kleinen Häuschen etwas unterhalb des Hauptgebäudes. Dieses ist wunderschön, mitten in der Natur (einmal hatten wir Äffchen auf dem Dach), sauber und geräumig. Auch sonst waren alle sehr freundlich und wir haben den schönen Pool genossen.
