Would not recommend, should have slept in the car.
Pros:

Nothing.

Cons:

No hot water for 2 days whilst we were there, rooms were dirty. The electrical services for appliances were well out of date. Bathroom was filthy, stains all over the shower curtain. If I could add more photos I would.

Cheap and friendly if shower was fixed.
Pros:

Very cosy room and heating was to my desire.

Cons:

Broken shower head, filled with limescale, no hot water and shower head was unsuable. Unclean bathroom, hair strands in bath, outdated bathroom. Left half way through the night around 3am.

Once classy Carlton
Pros:

The Carlton Park Hotel is situated in the leafy green and more affluent part of Rotherham. It has an air of faded grandeur about it, symbolised by the abandoned grand piano in the foyer, and has clearly seen better days in the past. Despite this, however, I was very satisfied with my 4 night stay in mid January 2026. I think that the current review score of 6.4 is very low and that some of its poor reviews are not fully justified. The staff I encountered were all very helpful and friendly. The room was very spacious with a big double bed and large en-suite bathroom. The decor and furnishings were a bit dated, but it was clean and there was housekeeping every two days. Above all, it was excellent value for money. Only £42 per night and cheaper than Premier Inn, Ibis, Travelodge etc. Free car parking right outside the door.

Cons:

1 Needs general refurbishment.
2 No breakfast available due to ongoing building works.
3 A small fridge or minibar in the rooms would be useful.
4 Smoking smell on the 2nd floor corridor.
