Tem restaurante caro no hotel.
Very disappointing experience for a so-called 5-star international hotel.
The three main issues were: the air conditioning did not work, the gym and the pool were closed — with no visible maintenance or proper explanation and no one could speak english.
The air conditioning situation was honestly absurd. I was told that it “could not be turned on at this time of year,” and the only solution offered was a fan. During my stay, Hangzhou was around 25–30°C during the day, and my room got direct sun for hours, so every time I came back it was extremely hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable.
Another major issue was the complete lack of English-speaking staff. This was especially unacceptable because I was there for an international conference, and many foreign guests were also staying at the hotel. For a hotel that presents itself as international and supposedly 5-star, having no one able to communicate in English is simply not acceptable. I had to handle everything through a phone translator, including complaints and check-in issues. When I asked about this, I was told that the only English-speaking employee was on vacation, which is honestly not a serious excuse.
To make matters worse, at check-in they initially tried to charge me a 3,000 RMB deposit, which was outrageous since my entire stay did not even cost that much. I had to argue about it — again, through a translator app — before they finally dropped it.
Overall, the hotel was far below expectations, poorly managed, and absolutely not at the level of service or comfort expected from a 5-star property.
