Room was stunning. View to mountains and hotel Japanese garden also stunning.Haiseki 10 course tasting menu was superb both night.Our waiter Kyoma was a delight- introducing each course. By staying overnight on the island we were able to see shrine at low and high tide and get ahead of the queues for the ropeway. The other staff were nothing short of brilliant at reception and organising shuttle buses etc.Onsen wonderful.

Hotel Arimato is the epitome of elegance — quiet, tranquil, and peaceful in a way that immediately settles your mind. From the moment we arrived, everything felt calm and intentional. Their shuttle pickup and drop‑off from the port made the whole experience seamless, and it set the tone for the kind of care they consistently showed throughout our stay.
The staff were exceptional — polite, professional, and always communicative. They answered all my questions by email, confirmed our preferred times for breakfast, dinner, and room cleaning, and checked if we needed anything else. Their personalised service made us feel genuinely important.
A special thank you to Yurika, who took us to our room, explained everything clearly, measured my yukata, and attended to us at every meal. She walked us to the door after each breakfast and dinner and always wished us a pleasant day or good night.
And Shonobu left a lasting impression with his sincerity. When we departed, he bowed deeply as soon as we entered the car and remained bowed until we backed out. He then moved to the street, bowed again, and waved us off until we were out of sight. It was incredibly moving.
The light in the bathroom was a bit dim. But it wasn't a deal breaker.

Niemals Zimmer 502 buchen! Total abgewohnt und schwer renovierungsbedürftig. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis passt überhaupt nicht! Unverhältnismäßig teuer. Eigentlich eine Frechheit! Charme einer Jugendherberge!
We chose a tatami room and got one with a magnificent view on the Itsukushima shrine which was absolutely amazing. The hotel also has very nice public baths and is very clean with very welcoming and helpful staff. The location of the hotel as well as the traditional design of the room made for an unforgettable experience.

Hotel is stunning, they have a shuttle from the ferry and if you arrive early you can just send your luggage with shuttle and they will actually place it in your room for you.
We arrived to check in, a gentleman was downstairs and greeted us and lead us up to the check in desk. Lovely check in process, she gave us a map of the island and a list of places that are open late for dinner. She then lead us to our room and asked how often we wanted cleaning and setting up the futon and such. It was a great customer serive experience, you definitely pay for it. The onsen was great! The onsen sides change only for the morning timings, as the 2 sides are different. Overall one of the best hotel experiences we've had.
The hotel is very beautiful and is ideally located in Miyajima as everything is about a ten minutes walk from the hotel. The staff was lovely and provided advices for outings and restaurant. Our room was spectacular with a great view and a nice bath. It was worth every money spent on this hotel.

The hotel is lovely just tucked away not far behind the shrine. The room was huge. The meals were fantastic in presentation and service and the staff are great in English. The onsen is fabulously equipped and the hotel is laid out well. There is the constant smell of tatami
Honestly if you were walking it feels a little hard to access not knowing where it is. Finding the shuttle on the 5th floor is abit of a maze make sure reception helps you.
