The property lacks a bit of maintenance. The power ran out like 10 times during the night and the noise the generator was making kept us awake at times.
If they finish building the hotel, the place has such potential!

The entire infrastructure is bad

Our stay at Wild Fortress in Sigiriya was hands down the worst experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, things were a disaster. The first red flag came immediately when we were asked to pay the full amount in cash within two minutes of entering the property, without being given time to even inspect the rooms.

The rooms themselves were a complete mess, but the bathrooms were an absolute nightmare. None of the bathroom doors in any of the rooms we were shown worked properly. Some doors were broken and had no knobs, while others didn’t even fit the frame—imagine a bigger door and a smaller opening, so you couldn’t close it at all! Forget about locks; you couldn’t even push the doors to stay shut. The lack of privacy was shocking, and it made the stay unbelievably uncomfortable.

When we raised these issues, the staff casually told us, “This is how it is,” and made no effort to resolve anything. They showed us multiple rooms, and all of them had the same problem. It felt like a bad joke. Adding to the horror, the toilets were filthy and infested with frogs. Every time you sat down, you had to worry about a frog jumping out of the commode. It was disgusting, terrifying, and completely unacceptable.

To make matters worse, the rooms had no basic facilities—no TV, no food, and the air conditioning didn’t work, leaving us to sweat through the night. The staff showed no concern or accountability, and when we complained, they simply shrugged and refused to adjust the price, claiming that part of the money goes to Booking.com.

This place is not just poorly maintained; it’s downright unlivable. The bathrooms alone make this property a complete disaster, and the lack of care and professionalism from the staff only made it worse. If you value your money, comfort, and sanity, stay as far away as possible from Wild Fortress. This was truly the stay from hell, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. 0/100 would recommend.

Cleanliness has to improve. That was a major let down.The room we were given wasn't clean and there were too many mosquitos. There was no television and there was nothing Deluxe about the room. The bathroom was unclean with a used tissue roll and a small bar of soap. All the taps were leaking and there was no proper water pressure in any of the shower heads or tap. There was no bin in the washroom or a place to hang your towel. The bed had not been dusted and the floor was very sticky and dusty beneath our feet. We were not given the breakfast menu and our choices were not considered. We were given milk rice which is not something we liked especially with salmon. But the staff was very accommodating and quickly provided us with toasted bread, butter jam and fried eggs. The hotel pool was filthy and definitely wasn't inviting to a visitor. The hotel staff took cash in payment and didn't give us a receipt. There are no credit card payment facilities at the hotel.
