Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The staff were absolutely lovely. I booked 10 rooms for a Hen Party & they arranged to decorate the room for us! Couldn’t recommend enough. Rooms are gorgeous.

The location was superb and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully appointed and everything felt luxe and comfortable.
The AC could have been stronger, and the hair dryer didn’t really work properly.
Beautifully presented and sympathetically restored, Hotel Gounod is a very special place to stay. Lovely terrace and large spacious room. Amazingly quiet with the doors and windows shut (the double glazing was some of the best I have ever experienced) and with a really convenient location in one of the nicest areas of Nice. Staff were all excellent and really tried their best with the one issue we had (see below)
Frustratingly the air conditioning was stuck on ‘heating mode’ and whilst the heat could be turned off, we couldn’t get the cooling to work for three out of the four nights we were there. Fortunately the weather was not exceptionally hot, but it did mean that we needed to sleep with the terrace door open, which then meant there was quite a bit of traffic noise. We reported it to the staff (as did others on our floor) but it seems that nobody could work out how to fix it. An engineer was called who came and had a look, but then disappeared saying he’d be back in 10 minutes but we never saw him again! We sensed that the staff were trying their best, but for a 400 Euros per night hotel I wouldn’t have expected that to be such an unfixable problem. On the final night the air con was working, so that was great, but we woke up to no hot water in the bathroom. By that time I had run out of the energy to keep raising issues with reception and we were leaving that day so I didn’t mention it.

Spacious rooms and excellent breakfast
Location is wonderful, design is very nice, lots of storage even in the bathroom. Good water pressure and comfortable bed. Easy to walk to beach and the train station.
Rooms towards courtyard rooms are dark, we had a suite so bedroom was on the bright side, but living and bathroom were dark. Partner hotel has the pool and gym - it’s a bit inconvenient and that hotel appears worn.
