Avoid it, book somewhere else

Cons:

Being five minutes from the train station does not automatically make a location “good”. The surrounding area is quite rough, with visible drug activity and prostitution on the same street. We never personally felt in danger, but it is certainly not an area we would recommend, especially for families.

The hotel itself was even more disappointing. It is absolutely not accessible. There are stairs just to get into the building, and even after that there are more stairs before you can reach the lift. Travelling with a baby and a stroller, this was extremely inconvenient.

But the worst part was the complete lack of basic maintenance. When we arrived, our room had water. When we came back that evening, there was no water at all. Travelling with a baby, having no water in your room is not a minor inconvenience — it is a serious problem. On top of that, the toilet flush was broken, and we literally had to pull a piece of plastic from inside the mechanism every time we wanted to flush (while we had water earlier in the day only).

It took almost an hour of arguing with reception before we were finally given another room, despite being told the hotel was “fully booked”. The reception girls were friendly and polite, but unfortunately being nice does not compensate for a hotel failing to provide basic necessities or properly deal with a serious problem.

The room itself is incredibly basic and poorly maintained. It may look clean at first glance, but once you actually look around, it is obvious that the cleaning and general upkeep could be much better. The pillows are practically sheets of paper, and there is no air conditioning, which is ridiculous when temperatures are high.

Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. Basic maintenance, cleanliness and accessibility should not be luxuries. There are plenty of better options in Hannover — save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.
