Two overnight stays at start & end of week's walking in the Peaks
Pros:

We booked this hotel for our group of 6 walkers, to accommodate us for the first and last night of a week's walking in the Peaks.
It was perfectly located for the start of our walking, which embarked directly into the Chatsworth estate, before circuiting the wider Peak district.
The rooms were all clean and comfortable. The evening meal on the last night was very good. We enjoyed the complimentary port/brandy in our rooms.

Cons:

These two night were by far the priciest of our week's walking. We could only book a double room for each of our 6 people in the party. We could not be offered twin rooms in order to share and we were not able to get a single occupancy rate on the rooms, which seemed unfair when we were only receiving one breakfast per room.
Unlike the excellent evening meal, the breakfast service seemed somewhat lacking in quality considering the price charged. We all had to pre-select via forms our breakfast selections the night before. Only one item was allowed - no granola AND cooked breakfast. On our first stay, coffee was served from an inadequately sized bean to cup machine. For the second stay, this has been downgraded to a coffee urn serving grotty instant coffee. I mean really?!
If this place is going to charge top rate prices it needs to seriously upgrade its approach to breakfast.

Pros:

Spent two lovely evenings relaxing with friends in the bar, for drinks and food.

Cons:

Breakfast has to be booked at a set time and it isn't a buffet. So getting an early breakfast (followed by an 8 hour journey) wasn't straightforward. The hotel wasn't particularly busy and the staff did all the could to assist. We would have liked to get away an hour earlier. The quality of the breakfast food was, however, very good.
The Wifi was weak and I couldn't connect in my room or in the bar. However, there was a reasonable mobile signal, so not really a problem for me.

For a short stay in the area it’s good but found the meal at the Pilsey Inn far bette
Pros:

The location is great and offers good parking. Room was comfortable and TV had all streaming channels which is very rare from my experience

Cons:

The meal was a bit average and the restaurant area very old fashioned. The bar looked a lot more modern.

Not worth the money!
Pros:

Lovely building and lively looking restaurant. Close to Chatsworth house. Room was large. Bed was comfortable. Had some nice furniture in the room.

Cons:

Staff weren't that friendly. Always felt like we were pain. No above and beyond servive here. Had to pre order breakfast the night before. Coffee at breakfast wasn't very nice. Not from a coffee machine and not filter. Think it was instant kept in a still. The room had tea and coffee in it and the teas were really good quality but when it came to the coffee it was standard nescafe. We expected more compared to teas and price of the room. The bathroom floor wasn't clean with bits in the corner. The bathroom tile grout was orange and black. The bedroom floor was also not that clean. It had obviously had a dog in it before us as we found a nugget of dog food on the floor. Around the legs of the desk was dusty the skirting boards were dusty. The cushions in the room were shabby. The sofa which had a chesterfield look was dusty in all the button holes.
We stayed two nights. When the room was serviced it wasn't hoovered. This is classed as luxury accommodation. At first glance it looked lovely but looking closer it was very disappointing.

Poor standard budget room
Pros:

The location was good

Cons:

Sqeaky door from kitchen into dining room, very annoying as constantly in use.
Bedroom not clean under the bed, found dog chew which must have been left from previous guests who must have had a dog (was not made aware that dogs were allowed in bedrooms ) Chest of drawers very wobbly, very flimsy curtains let the light in from outside, complimentary bottled water not sealed looked like bottle just refilled after use.
Complimentary brandy also in unsealed container (not very hygienic), wobbly stool(not very safe for sitting on. Hanging space for clothes directly over where kettle was boiled, overall not a very nice room.
