Great spot, friendly staff
From the very first moment you enter this wonderfully relaxing gem, you feel well taken care of and warmly welcomed. The delightful cinnamon welcome drink certainly contributed to that feeling.
The hotel is nestled in the hip beach town of Hiriketiya on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, near Dickwella.
The atmosphere of The Yard has a European touch, without losing its chilled, relaxed, and tropical character. Yet it is tidy and serene enough to get some work done, or to find a quiet spot for meditation or yoga.
The backyard is a wonderful retreat with plenty of seating, all styled in a fantastic and carefully curated aesthetic. For lovers of a tropical, understated flair, this hotel is an absolute must.
The rooms impress with their harmoniously matched natural materials, patterns, and thoughtful little design details that make the stay truly enjoyable.
On our Sri Lanka trip spanning 19 hotels, this was one of our top favorites, and we would definitely return — the value for money is absolutely outstanding.

Good location and friendly staff
Our main issue was with the bathroom as the layout meant the whole bathroom floor got wet from the shower and then it didn’t dry, so essentially a wet bathroom the whole time. We felt that the photos look better than the reality, at least for the room we had. It was also quite noisy in the morning from downstairs and neighbouring properties.

Le personnel est sympathique.
Ce qui fait la différence c'est le confort et la décoration qui a beaucoup de charme et le petit jardin derrière.
Peu de prestations sont offertes ou proposées contenu du prix qui est assez élevé comparé aux autres hébergements de la ville.
Un petit déjeuner nous semblerait essentiel dans un endroit de ce standing et peut être un point d'eau/piscine pour justifier du prix.

We truly enjoyed our time here from beginning to end. The accommodation and our room were absolutely beautiful – everything was thoughtfully prepared and very comfortable.
We especially appreciated how kindly and attentively all our wishes, questions, and requests were handled. We always felt well taken care of and genuinely welcomed.
We would be more than happy to come back and stay again. Highly recommended!

There wasn’t a personal patio space, but the shared one is nice!
The location is perfect and the room is beautiful. The whole place is so lovely. The room is so cozy and well decorated. It is really nice that you can use the kitchen and refrigerator!
My biggest comment is that they charge 3% extra for card payments which is illegal in Sri Lanka. Save your receipt and ask the money back at your credit card provider.
Staff didn’t really seem to care that much about the guests and seemed a little bit passive. I was kind of offered my welcome drink on the second day. The bathroom is very humid and dark.
During a power cut they ask you to switch of your AC

The location was great. The perfect central spot. The room was spacious and clean with a lovely outdoor bathroom. The receptionist was always very willing to help and the kitchen is set up with some nice teas and coffees. Would throughly recommend!
A bonus extra would have been to have a bar on site! But the price was so reasonable we understand why not
