Overall quite disappointing, despite the friendly staff.
Pros:

Nice cosey public bar. Secure parking for our bikes. Bedroom was warm.

Cons:

This pub/hotel feels very much in need of an update and some serious money to refurbish it. The bedroom was big enough but very old fashioned and the ensuite was very poor. The flush on the toilet had to be pumped many times to get it to work, then took 15 minutes to refill. The shower hardly managed to get any water through at all, then it was only tepid after waiting for 10 minutes.

Pros:

The staff were great and as helpful as they could have been. The breakfast was lovely.

Cons:

No heating or hot water on day of arrival and it was so cold. The bar closed before 9pm and we got back after a meal out expecting to get a drink in the bar and whole place was in darkness .

Antiquated, but not in a cool way
Pros:

Not very much

Cons:

Very tired looking both external and internal. We had room 8; the bathroom suite was something out of the `70`s; plastic shower curtain; very poor toilet/sink. Hot water took over 7 minutes to come through!!

Chintzy and a thankfully short stay.
Pros:

Did the job of providing a bed for the night but room decor and furniture was very dated. Polite staff.

Cons:

Toilet didn’t flush and bathroom had bad odour. The owner/manager said he couldn’t do anything as he wasn’t a plumber. Pleasant manner but no offer of reduction in price or compensation etc. I think hotel may have been fully occupied so no chance to move room although this wasn’t mentioned. Extensive damp outside the room in corridor, sadly.

Beautiful hotel needing huge investment.
Pros:

Great little town. Well positioned to break journey south. Dog friendly.

Cons:

Unfortunately our window wouldn’t shut and the road noise disturbed us. They’re beautiful original windows so I understand the cost implications.

The only positive was the friendly staff, but the overall stay was poor. The room was dated, the beds uncomfortable, and
Pros:

The staff were very friendly and helpful, which made check-in and general interactions pleasant.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The room was very dated, the beds were uncomfortable, no easy access to power sockets, and there was no hot water available in the mornings for a shower. The roof was leaking, and there was visible mould throughout the room, which left me feeling unwell. The carpeted floor was also wet on one side of the room for the entire stay, making it very uncomfortable and unpleasant.

For £55 per night excellent value for money. The room was more than adequate.
Pros:

Very good, well cooked full English with toast, orange juice, tea. If I lived local I would visit for the breakfast.

Cons:

I can't think of anything.

Disappointed, restless stay. Needs severe updating and attention
Pros:

Location.

Cons:

Extreme damp and smell. Buckets on landing/stairs catching water. No parking. No food available in the evening after a long journey even thou it was only 1830. Had to pump the toilet to flush, shower was no pressure and very little water. Bathroom extractor (operates with light switch) very noisy, that noisy I couldn’t put it on in the night as didn’t want the room next door waking up.

Lovely hotel, was as photos and descriptions, cheap for a reason but clean.
Pros:

Charming old style, quirky and independent

Cons:

Could do with sorting some temporary fixes out by actually fixing or replacing
