The room was very spacious and had everything you needed. Unfortunately our heater didn’t work and it was a very cold night. The room also had a really funky smell that wasn’t pleasant but overall it was comfortable and well set up.

A light and the kettle weren’t working. The staff rectified this quickly.
Stayed in room 60 in July 2025. Room was actually not too bad. Good bed and hot shower. Plenty of furniture and a balcony with seating. Room has older style decor with a bed, desk, lounge chairs and a fridge/toaster/kettle/microwave. Very handy to the pub and its restaurant. The Motor Museum is also very close. Aircon worked okay as did the additional electric heaters provided.
No Wifi in this modern day and age is just sad really. TV is just free-to-air channels. There is no parking near your room and you can park on the street or the pub car park. The room is upstairs, so no good if you have issues climbing stairs or a lot of luggage. There was an extension lead in the room as some of the utilities don't have easy access to power outlets. These rooms are booked 'remotely', so there is no reception for the Settlers Hotel (as opposed to the Settlers House). Your key is in a lock box outside your room and our unit was hard to open and close.
This is a great value option for anyone staying in York. The room was larger than expected and well appointed. The hotel is well located to the main street of York, and some good options to find food are in easy walking distance.

No soap provided to wash dishes or risk a $50 Cleaning fee
Carpet had not been vacuumed in ages
Smoke alarm had been removed and not replaced (which is illegal in accommodation)
Overall I would avoid this place

Very noisy, not sure what was the noisy come from, sounds like a big machine running whole night next door….
Beautifully clean, everything I needed was there; coffee, tea, kettle, microwave, fridge, clean dishes and plenty of space.
The bath was a brilliant surprise and it was wonderful.
The lock box at the door was great, easy to use and so convenient.
Bed was comfy.
