Breathtaking views, the family were so helpful and eager to make your stay perfect. Completely off the beaten track homestay with Black Tai family. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Maybe a mosquito net would be good in the room
So eine nette Besitzerin habe ich lang nicht mehr getroffen! Es ist ein absoluter Traum, umsonst Boot fahren, abends super essen, direkt am See, und drei süße Jungs haben uns das Dorf gezeigt!
Die Lage war wirklich wunderschön.
Es war in der Nacht sehr laut das sich die Familie sehr laut unterhielt. Da die Räume keinerlei Schalldichte Wände besitzen. Am Morgen ging es dann weiter. Als ich ankam wurde mir mitgeteilt dass wir in 10 min Abendessen werden. Ich hatte also gar keine Chance mich zu entscheiden. Abendessen kostete 100.000VND was mir aber erst beim Abrechnen mitgeteilt wurde.
What made our stay truly memorable was the floating restaurant that was part of the homestay — such a unique and beautiful setting. Our host’s genuine kindness made us feel so welcome to eat with their family and the food was absolutely incredible, freshly prepared with so much care. Being able to swim in the lake and then enjoy such an authentic meal right on the water was an unforgettable experience. We had one of the best evenings of our trip here in Vietnam and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something truly special
Our host was kind and welcoming, though we did find communication a little difficult at times, which meant it helped to be fairly travel-savvy to navigate everything smoothly. The homestay gave us a real glimpse into local life, though compared to some other places we’ve stayed, the facilities were a bit more basic. That said, it felt authentic to the area and was part of the experience

Nice traditional house. We could use drinking water and a kettle. Nice area on the second floor is a dormitory. Friendly host.
The hotel is near the lake but not on the lake. The view to the lake is good only from a gazebo.
The neighbours were building their house and were very noisy. (But I guess it won't last long)
Private rooms are on the first floor, they are a bit dark and not really clean. bed sheets were not very clean either.
If you're looking for something more local and off the tourist trail this is the one for you. It's basic but thats part of the charm. The views of the lake
are spectacular. The owner is very kind and friendly and I ate an amazing grilled fish dinner with the family on their floating restaurant. I had a little swim after a long bicycle ride also which was a bonus.
The most amazing place, needed to relax for a few days and came across this, can’t believe it’s not busier as this was my favourite place so far in Vietnam, flawless views, incredibly kind family. Had an amazing stay and highly recommend skipping Son La to come here if you’re on limited time in Vietnam
This place is wonderful if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful. The family was also truely lovely and offered us a warm welcome. You can swim at the lake and the food was unexpected but excellent
Nothing to say except may be the mattress a bit too firm and the shower a bit too cold.
I really enjoy staying at Muong Trai Homestay. It is a lovely place with lovely people. They invite you into their community and life. You share wonderful dinners with them if you like. The location is a bit remote, on the other hand quiet and clean. There is a big lake to swim and mountains to hike.
Loved everything about this homestay! Was one of the best nights i had in vietnam! This family is extremely kind and welcoming! The food and the views were amazing! Grateful for that night!
Nothing to change
Authentic Homestay experience with Black Thai villagers on the lake. The property has exactly what you need: shower, bathroom, beds and an amazing little restaurant on the lake where you can go and swim.
I like it all as it is
It’s an house boat with an amazing view and amazing food. The place you stay is a 2 min walk away from the lake and is perfectly nice for where it is. The food cooked in the evening is delicious and the hosts are really lovely. We took a detour to stay here and it was completely worth it.

were lucky enough to be there for the National Unity Day festival which has been the highlight of our time in Vietnam. Thank you, thank you!
The room had no air circulation, even with the fan on and the bed linen was very warm for the climate. The ensuite toilet could have been cleaner.
