Lovely hotel, food and grounds was brilliant
There was only one towel in our room. Toke hours for an extra one to be delivered. When we wanted the room to be freshened up it toke cleaner late afternoon, Witch wasn't ideal.

There’s so much which could make it great. It’s a bit odd seeing (mainly older) people traipsing around with cases. It was strange only to have the option of a 3 course dinner after 5pm (despite what the reception staff told us); there’s also a south and a north wing (the place is huge) but you aren’t told in advance which one you are in, so we effectively checked in twice
Location and facilities are excellent
You really need to address the labk of administration especially between booking.com- there was an inconsistency of information with no one having our booking but it all been booked and then the inability to book the additional activities due to this issue.
I have never known the inability for anyone to answer the phone and still needing to make payment which is laughable that I can’t get in touch with you?

So relaxing. Staff were great. Evening entertainment. Beautiful grounds. Refurbished a few years ago to an excellent standard.
Nothing really. The bed was a bit hard for us on the first night, topper added second night. This was apparently an option. Maybe guests should be asked before arrival???
Breakfast was very nice great options and evening meal was the same evening fresh and tasty.

Beautiful grounds, our room was good size and clean.
There was a noise all night constantly due to which we didn't sleep good both nights which was a shape because everything else was amazing. The lack of sleep due to this really disturbed us and we felt tired the whole time rather than rejuvenated.
Beautiful decor, loved the historic building
Felt like being on a cruise ship, lots of very elderly people, understaffed in the restaurants, the servers seemed exhausted and not very happy, entertainment was just ok.
The surrounding areas were nice but the images on booking.com are misleading
We arrived at the reception to be told we were booked into the south wing. This may as well be a completely separate hotel as it has a different entrance and reception. We booked it based on the images from booking.com. This is false advertising. We were never informed by booking.com or the hotel that we were booked into a separate part of the hotel. This was extremely disappointing as we wanted somewhere nice for our 20th Anniversary. The images need to be changed to reflect the south wing and customers should be allowed to book the hotel they want to stay at. If the north wing is dearer that is fine but you can’t show pictures of the nice hotel and then end up staying in the sloppy seconds. The room was tiny, bed was uncomfortable. Food was horrible. We stayed in the Premier inn the night before so we were close to the airport. It was luxury compared to this hotel.
