Property needs to be refurbished and soft furnishing needs a deep clean
Really enjoyed our stay here. The property has a beautiful colonial feel and a peaceful atmosphere. The rooms were spacious and the pool was great. The staff were very helpful, and it’s close to Galle city while still being nice and quiet. Great place to relax and unwind.
Extra spacious rooms and super friendly staff members made our trip memorable. Located 06 minutes away from Galle Fort.
There was a slight delay in serving beverages.
The house itself is old & grand.
Food - had rice for lunch; this was good.
The water supply to the hotel was not working from the time we checked in; 6 hours later, it still was not working, and the staff mentioned it would take a further 6 to 7 hours to have it fixed,
In total, guests had to wait for more than 12 hours without water for showers etc.
The manager was not helpful and was unable to give a proper solution.
I had to follow up several times to get information about the water issue.
The phone in the room did not work - this was not fixed despite informing them twice.
The general place could do with more regular cleaning as there was dust on the sofa's - probably not vacuumed in quite a while.
I was booked into the Admiral suite, but checked out after 6 hours due to the lack of water

Hôtel de charme colonial très bien préservé et entretenu. Le cadre entretien cet atmosphère. Les chambres sont très spacieuses et décorées avec style colonial magnifiques avec tout le confort haut de gamme. Piscine splendide entourée d’une verdure tropicale et calme. Très proche d’une des nombreuses plage de Galle. Le personnel est très attentionné, aux petits soins et très gentils. Les plats occidentaux et sri lankais sont élaborés, vraiment très délicieux et très beaux, servis à la carte. Facile d’accès même en transport en commun, à 10 min en tuktuk du centre bus de Galle en « highway bus » et trains depuis Colombo. A 15 min du fameux fort de Galle. Je recommande cet hôtel. Merci à tout le personnel.
We had Sri Lankan breakfast. It was excellent. Really delicious meal and lot of food.
The hotel doesn't have a liquor license.
The property is pretty amazing, our group enjoyed the stay here. It was so peaceful and calm. The staff were great. Very colonial feeling to the place. The rooms are pretty big. The property also has a lovely pool. We had breakfast and lunch, the portion sizes are quite large we had to tell them to give us less food 😉. The food was also very tasty.

Nice and peaceful hotel location close to the beach, with a fantastic staff and delicious restaurant. Air conditioning worked excellent all time. Pool area clean and relaxing.
Everything was perfect.
Lovely big pool and as limited number of guests feels like you have it to yourself.
Needs a little bit of maintenance to get it looking back to its old self.

The first impression as we went through the gates to the house was .... wow. The colonial feel of the place has been retained well. We were upgraded for free which was a lovely touch. Our room (suite!) was large with a huge bathroom and 2 balconies to sit on. Staff were friendly and courteous.
Not sure whether this can truly be classed as 5 star. Maybe in the past but there were too many elements which sadly let it down.
Breakfast buffet options weren't warm, maybe with fewer guests, hot food could have been provided to order?
There were plenty of staff, but finding one to get a pool towel off took time.
We'd chosen this hotel as it was a little away from Galle, and therefore peaceful, but with so few guests there was no atmosphere.
All minor gripes but they did detract from our overall experience and saw us leave a day early which we didn't get a refund for as we'd booked with a commitment to pay.
Beautiful colonial building with verandahs and central grassed courtyard. Big pool on lower terrace. Staff kindly provided lunch to our driver. Breakfast was advance order of 'western' or 'Sri Lankan'. The Sri Lankan breakfast was fabulous assortment and delicious. Large elegant room.
Slight musty smell in the room and some mould on wall. Needs attention. Not walking distance to anything but short car trip to Galle Fort.
We have stayed here before and love the property - very spacious and comfortable.
The swimming pool area felt a bit unloved. Some nice umbrellas and lounger would make a big difference.
