The main facilities and the breakfast. The dinner was commented on as unacceptable when my wife found fish bones, no apology was given and my wife had no main meal - not acceptable at any price.
The front rooms are very noisy unless yuo like trains and air brakes on large trucks. The view was of the railway station.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating. We booked the garden view but had a not-so-good view of the train tracks. We were able to be moved to a room with a better view.
Garden view room did not stay true to its meaning. A train track view is not a garden view. The Boiler House restaurant was closed as it was a Tuesday night, and the other restaurant was completely booked out. Although it was a very busy night, we were a little disappointed that there were not more options for dinner.
All the staff were great
The bar closes at 10pm which is very early. I went to the bar at 9:55pm to order a coffee and was told it was closed.
There were no towels in the room when we arrived and we had to ask for them.
The fridge had someone else’s food in it
What a remarkable hotel, rich with history and charm. We arrived just in time to join the guided tour of the property — an experience I’d highly recommend. The hotel itself is stunning, beautifully furnished, and full of character.
Our room, located in the Belgravia section, was a comfortable size with a well‑appointed bathroom. Although it faced the highway, it remained perfectly quiet throughout our stay. Everything was spotless, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Breakfast in the Wintergarden Restaurant was outstanding, made even better by the breathtaking views across the valleys.
the food at dinner exceeded my expectations. The view was lovely.
The bathroom had no heating. It was far to cold to use it during the night or for a shower at any time. This was surprising and made the cost seem a little high to be honest. You really need robes in the room if the bathroom is that cold. You couldnt even leave the bathroom door open with the air con on as it wouldnt open all the way up due to the bed. I wont stay in Hydro during winter again, I can tell you that much!!!
Just an average small room. View good. Pillows average. Breakfast average. Service in Bar/Lounge average. Just ok for the price
The staff
It was old smelt like mould
Superb location, gorgeous room with beautiful view of the mountains, breakfast was perfect, staff all very friendly.
Nothing. It’s a heritage hotel so while it might not be extremely modern, its charm definitely shines through.
location and view
room was very small and the facilities in the room were meagre - no robes, no slipper, no biscuits, (there as some milk).
breakfast was ok but hot food (eggs, tomatoes, beans) wasn’t hot. Order was taken for coffee but didn’t arrive for 20+ minutes …so after bfst finished.
