Love the tour around the property and the history of this place. We were given a short brief about the batik collection in their museum, the batik sketches of Johanna Tjoa.

it is not just a building but a place with history.
overall nothing I do not like, just ideas for improvement since it has huge potential to be the most recommended hotel in Lasem. Things need to be done are, among a few, bath amenities in the room (at least a shower cap since they provide a rain shower bath), more knowledgable guide with passion. A separate and more private reception area would be a nice.
Firstly, even though we arrived at 4pm and had prepaid, the room was not ready. The main restaurant was closed during our stay. There was an outside eating area which served a limited menu, however about half the items on the menu were unavailable - including, can you believe it, coffee. On our last night we went to order dinner at 7.45pm only to be told that the kitchen was closed. When we asked if there was anywhere we could eat nearby, we we told no. The falsely smiling staff were completely useless. The bathroom smelled from the drainage and we were told toilet tissue was out of stock. I'm puzzled why this place has had such good reviews in the past, we certainly wouldn't stay there again.
Room was clean, large, and airy . Bed was comfortable.

This hotel is in Lasem about 10-15 kms from Rembang and there is NO public transport save a bus that comes from Surabaya once- to-a-few times a day and no-one knows when it comes and you have to hail it when it does come!! There are NO TAXIS not even motorbike taxis! The attractions we wanted to visit were all closed either temporarily or permanently or just didnt exist!)
We hired two random bike riders to take us to Rembang.
BE AWARE : the same ' no public transport' issue is tge same in Rembang. The hitel we stayed in in Rembang, the Pollos did thankfully have a airport transfer to Semarang
This is a beautiful historical house in the middle of the historical district of Lasem. You can walk everywhere. Lasem itself is beautiful and charming. And it is a very long history. This small hotel is highly recommended.
