The place is run by an ex-military man (Mr. Sonam?) who is nice and accommodating - he helped us book a pickup truck back to Leh when my companion was too unwell to ride his bike back. There are only 4 rooms but they are all clean and comfortable, with booking includes free breakfast (delicious dinner is home-cooked at 300rs/pax). Electricity and wifi are only available from 7-11pm which seems to be the norm at Pangong. There is no water geyser but the host will provide a bucket of hot water when requested.
The curtains are not thick enough to completely cover the windows.
Der Aufenthalt war richtig gut. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.
Jederzeit gerne wieder.
The location was amazing and the staff was very sweet and helpful.
Keep your electronics charged since the electricity is only available between 7 PM - 10 PM.
The cottage is owned by a formal army soldier. The amenities are what you expect in a remote cottage with no electrical lines. It's the same for every cottage in Lukung. The generators run only from 7pm to 10:30 pm and you should come to Pangong tso for the views and adventure and stay away if you are seeking comfort. Also, you will be dying for oxygen if the generators run all night or if you have heaters in your room. I'd rather stay alive than just be comfortable.
In terms of the cottage and host, Thinley is one of the nicest people I have met on my trip. He made Kadha for my cousin when he had a cold and fed us chai at all times of the day. He made food 3 times a day and it was pretty decent imo. The rooms are basic with a comfortable and warm bed but the prices are more than competitive compared to other cottages and it's totally worth it. I would stay in Thinley's cottage next time I come to Pangong and decide to stay in Lukung.
The home stay was very very clean. The bathroom was good too. It’s a new place and the linen, towels were very clean. The view of the lake is spectacular. It’s run by a very sweet ex army gentleman and his son who went out of their way to serve us. The dinner and breakfast served was delicious too. They gave us pipping hot water in a bucket for a bath as it does not have geysers. But it was enough. All in all recommend this place very highly
