Pros:

We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round .

Pros:

We really enjoy our stay at the farm. The location is very convenient, in a quiet spot but close to a well connected road. Our duplex had everything we needed for a short stay including a well equipped kitchen when and bathroom with toiletries.

We took advantage of the amenities of the farm including the playing area with plenty of toys for a toddler aged child as well as pool and foosball tables and outdoor space (swimming pool was still close at this time).

Only minor comments - the floor of the indoors game room was a bit dirty with possibly some dead bugs laying there in one of the sections of the room. Also the room temperature was on the warmer side in the rooms (~26C) when we arrived.
All in all though we enjoyed our stay and we will be coming back

Very disappointing
Pros:

Sadly the accommodation was very dirty and in places hadn’t been cleaned at all. I’m not sure if we were unlucky as we booked after reading amazing reviews. Beds were clean but the rest of of the property was very dirty. Microwave with spilt food in, fridge extremely dirty and had food in, bathroom had used loo roll on the floor, floors were filthy, I had to go buy cleaning products as we stuck to the floor. Kettle switch had been stuck on so just fell off, shower curtain was brown, cutlery and bowls dirty. Stains on throws of beds. Holes in bedroom stuffed up with tissue. Dead bugs on the floors in bedrooms, cobwebs and poorly finished decor. Not as per photos at all.

Fabulous find
Pros:

Fabulous find, great communication from owner, arrived late and excellent direction to rental was given.

On entering the property was very impressed, what a bargain for such a lovely property.

Would definitely recommend Birds Farm if your visiting Colchester or surrounding areas.

Pros:

Birds farm is a lovely place to stay for the local Essex or Sussex area. Very quiet in the evenings, despite being just off a busy road. Great facilities, good comfy beds, very warm heating and well supplied cooking facilities. A pool for summer, grounds and a Summer house and a well stocked games room for kids if the weather is bad. We found it superb for our short trip and would happily return. As we were a little out of season it seemed that some of the cottages opposite ours were being updated or renovated- ours didn’t seem to need anything- but if they are being redecorated, they will be superb! A super stay and great value.
