Upon arrival, no one offered to help with our luggage, even though I am seven months pregnant. Our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator, so my husband and I had to carry everything ourselves while the staff simply watched. A little assistance would have been greatly appreciated.

The room amenities were also very limited. There was no mini bar, no complimentary water, and very few of the conveniences one would normally expect at this price point. The overall feeling was that only the absolute minimum was provided.

The breakfast was particularly disappointing and was, unfortunately, one of the poorest hotel breakfasts I have experienced. The selection was very limited and did not reflect the standard we were expecting.

Considering the price, I believe there are better options available that offer more comfort, service, and value for money.

The service was like none I've had before in Morocco. I let them know that wwe were celebrating my mother's birthday in advance and they arranged a surprise birthday cake in our room on arrival. That was a great start. They also met every request that I had made, I was even asked if I would like evening mint tea sent to my room at night. They allowed us to keep our large bottle of water and soft drinks. Morning breakfast was always hot and fresh.

If I knew I was allowed to name staff that provided us such a great service I would name five members through my personal interactions with them.

The hotel's interior design is much better than the photos. It's a very beautiful hotel. I will be visiting Hotel Mechouar Plaza again when I am in Essaouira.

Cons:

The size of the Superior room with the balcony was a beautiful room but there was little space between the foot of the beds and the wall. Other rooms have more foot room and are beautiful but,
Please don't let this put you off.. Everything else was perfect. And if you are a smoker the balcony has ash trays.


But I will add that if you don't like noise in the weekend night from the restaurant entertainment and performances then any hotel within the medina area of Essaouira..

Pros:

ai passé un agréable séjour à Mechouar Plaza. L’emplacement est excellent, juste à côté de la médina et proche de la plage. Les chambres sont confortables et le personnel est accueillant et serviable. Le petit déjeuner est bon et l’ambiance est calme. Un bon choix pour découvrir Essaouira. Je recommande.

No communal areas. The bar was not run by the hotel, and was not welcoming to hotel guests. Also the most expensive bar we found in all the hotels so far in morrocco. The breakfast was OK, bot so badly run, we stayed 4 nights and each breakfast we were served in shifts!! First bread, then plates, then find your own cutlery, napkins, were served an egg but always had to ask for salt . It became a task every time. Please note that the bar is not a bar but a morrocan night club, so not the place to sit and relax with a beer in the evening.
