Mount Rich Rumassala

Leider das schlechteste und teuerste Hotel auf unserer Rundreise. Ich habe noch nie eine schlechte Bewertung abgegeben, aber hier kam einfach zu viel zusammen. Das Zimmer (Suite mit zwei Balkonen) war sehr abgenutzt und nicht besonders sauber, insgesamt hat das ganze Hotel eine bedrückende Atmosphäre. Das Hotel liegt an einer steilen Straße wodurch viel Lärm durch Busse und Tuktuks entsteht. Da die Balkontüren nicht ganz schließen ist es durchgehend sehr laut im Zimmer, man ist mit dem ersten Bus wach. Das Personal scheint mit jeder Frage überfragt und ist nicht sehr freundlich, das ist uns auf Sri Lanka nirgends sonst passiert. Mit mir als Frau wurde garnicht geredet, habe ich eine Frage gestellt, so wurde sie meinem Freund beantwortet. Das Essen war gut, wobei Wasser beim Frühstück extra bezahlt werden muss, was schon sehr unangebracht ist. Da wir uns sehr unwohl gefühlt haben sind wir früher als geplant abgereist. Man war nicht bereit uns die Kosten für die bereits gezahlten Nächte zu erstatten, auch nicht teilweise. Ich kann von diesem Hotel nur abraten, insbesondere als Frau. Wir haben gelernt, dass Übernachtungspreise nicht viel mit der Qualität eines Hotels auf Sri Lanka zu tun hat. In günstigeren Hotels waren wir deutlich zufriedener. In diesem Hotel ist das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis sehr schlecht.

Water pressure and availability of hot water in showers was variable.

Staff seemed a bit inexperienced but always friendly and willing to help.

Unfortunately i have lost my laptop the last days and i was suspecting that i lost it in the hotel or it got stolen and i wanted the management to check the cameras to confirm or deny these doubts, but they surprised us that camera are not working! How would you assure security of your visitors if cameras and basic equipment are not working. It is so unprofessional and not comfortable to know that

This hotel has an odd ambience. There were basically no other guests, except one large business party who partied loudly til late one night. There is a cafe and restaurant which basically remains closed until you ask to order something, which seems a weird way to operate and quite unhygienic The location is a 15/20 minute tuk tuk away from Unawatuna or Galle(to be fair, though the tuk tuk guys are grea, and the hotel will book you one) and the jungle beach down the road isn't all that. Considering our stays in Colombo, Sigiriya, Ella Kandy and Hikkaduwa elsewhere on our trip, this was comfortably the worst hotel of the lot. Not terrible just...more as if they catered for businesses really, and solo/couple travellers were an afterthought. I saw someone review this hotel as being like a conference centre, and it really is the best description of this place I can think of!.

Отдыхали на Новый год 2025. Отель грязный. Полы только подметают веником, ни кто не моет. Устраивали вечеринки на крыше до 3 ночи. На вечеринке местные жители со всего города. Громкость зашкаливала, спали в наушниках). Завтрак ужасный. Посуда грязная. Не рекомендую!

It was expensive for what was offered. Breakfast was basic, location on top of a hill which tuk tuks asked for a higher price to go up and down. the entire look and feel of the hotel was old and outdated, if it was a lot cheaper it would be acceptable. there was nothing really closeby e.g. cafe or shops, have to walk a distance or tuk tuk to the unawatuna area. even if you were the stay-in type of traveler, there is nothing to do in the hotel - no pool, nice lobby bar etc. its more like a suburban motel vibe. to be fair i only paid cause i was last minute and most other hotels were sold out.

Horrible experience. The Manager Tharanga has been the worst manager I have seen among thousands of hotels I have visited in my life. We checked in at Mount Rich Rumassala on 1st. To our surprise no housekeeping was done on 2nd. When we returned after our day tour on 2nd evening, I tried calling reception, but nobody picked up the phone, so I went down and searched a staff. The staff called the manager Tharanga on phone who very rudely told us on phone that they don’t clean the room unless we switch on the “clean my room” button. He was not at all apologetic about this. So, on the 3rd morning when we left the rooms we had switched on the “clean my room” buttons for both the rooms. Even then they did not clean our rooms. Our rooms were dirty on both the days. I called the manager on phone again, but he was again not ready to listen and was not even apologetic about it. He was again very rude and did not say sorry even once. He was not ready to take any responsibility for this miss. Even the breakfast was poor. They don’t have any good vegetarian options and there is no buffet. On 2nd morning, they delayed the breakfast by >1 hour, that disturbed our entire schedule for the day. They don’t have any full time staff at reception in the night. There was no hot water in the bathrooms during all the three days we stayed there. They kept on giving the excuses for hot water. Even at 10:00 pm in the night they did not have anybody at reception and no staff who could do at-least basic cleaning of our rooms. At the time of the checkout, the manager came and met us for the first time and was just focused on getting the payment from us. He was not ready to accept any of the mistakes and forced us to make the payment or else he would lodge the police complaint. Despite all the arguments we had to make full payment for the hotel and leave for airport, since we were getting delayed for the flight, This has led to significant mental torture for us and hugely inconvenienced us.

The stay was disappointing, with misleading photos that didn’t match the basic reality of the hotel, hostel-like shower and toilet facilities, a damp smell in the wet areas, inconsistent shower water temperatures, and long waits for basic amenities like towels, leaving us feeling like an inconvenience for asking.
Additionally- at check out we were given a bill for alcohol that we didn’t not have and were offered no apology by the time they realised it was for another room.

Tv didn’t work. WiFi poor. Long way from anything. Strange feel to the hotel. Staff rude, manager unhelpful. Flexible booking not flexible when needed.

Food

It’s far from the town centre and once the travel agent dropped us off at 4pm, there was nothing else to do other than sitting in the room. We were the only customers, so the atmosphere was very dull. We wanted to have dinner at the restaurant but when we went up it was totally under dark. So we ended up having dinner in the room. There is no 24 hours hot water and we have to call the reception whenever we want hot water. We stayed in a better hotel for half the price during the same trip. So this hotel is very overpriced and they added 3% for paying the hotel fee by credit card.
