Staff were exceedingly helpful
The hotel was very close to the harbour and the room had a great view!

Food and food service
Lovely hotel in the most stunning location. Bedroom was fine with a fabulous view. I sat and watched the ferry crab across Strangford Lough.
Having to preorder dinner and breakfast. If you didn’t order a desert on the preorder then there was no way you were getting one. Even had to preorder cereal for breakfast. Even with a preorder for breakfast it took forever to get served. Shame to see a once really well run hotel being so badly managed. Would love to have spoken to the manager/ owner but they were invisible.
Room was clean
Great breakfast menu
Curtains held up with string didn't close properly let lots of light in
Fire alarm woke us 7:50 am
2 staff on at busy breakfast time
Breakfast was very good, staff and service was excellent

Hygiène douteuse
STAFF The staff at the bar and at breakfast were very pleasant and On arrival we were allocated a family room with a double and a single bed and not sure why as the hotel was quiet . We did expect a large double but just for one night it was ok
The view over the waterfront was good and the bathroom looked fairly modern in most aspects . The Room was nice and quiet and no noise from the bar below. We had good service at breakfast as we seemed to be the only people at breakfast with just two tables set. The food was very nice although the bacon was overcooked to be honest it was ok We had a lovely Pizza in the bar the evening. The TV was modern Smart tv and well fitted to its own cabinet
The room was very well cleaned but in my view in need of some investment to bring it up to 2026 standard.
Lots of small details could have made the stay better . Rooms have too much old tatty furniture . BATHROOM The Glass shower screen had a rubber base/seal missing so water goes on the bathroom floor. The towel rail was scruffy and outdated. grout round the bath needed re doing. Crack in the sink . Tap top missing. The air extractor was noisy and the bathroom door handle was grotty . BEDROOM No air con so when you open the windows for fresh air you get traffic noise . Power sockets were in very short supply and no USB plugs . As an example the kettle was plugged into an extension lead . No power points on either side of the double bed. Mattress had a stain on it . ( Top left of bed) Room 10 . The bedding had a very strong bleached smell. The curtains were flimsy and not blackout . The room we were allocated was not a superior double with large bed in fact it had two singles bolted together and a single taking up space we were not going to use .
Good location and free parking. Food and staff were great.
Room 15 was pokey and in need of refurbishment. Basin was cracked and shower tray had some mould.
Didn’t like the fact that no-one was at reception when you checked out and no bell to alert staff.
Room had recently been renovated and was excellent, really comfortable bed. Stunning view. Food in bar and breakfast were outstanding.
Decor in dining room was very plain and quite a late start for breakfast 9am
Homely atmosphere with friendly staff and top class food
Nothing
So welcoming had a lovely stay will definitely be back
We were passing through for one night. Location was great on the seafront and near the ferry. Breakfast was good.
On arrival, we were trying to get a drink. One of the bar staff was very unhelpful and did not serve us for 5 minutes while he messed around. An attitude problem and bordering on the offensive. We are from Dublin and we wondered whether this was the issue for him. Her warmed up a bit later when it emerged that we were staying the night.
All the staff at the hotel are welcoming, friendly and provide excellent customer service. The restaurant menu and food quality are great. Portaferry is a tranquil, friendly community set in a beautiful environment. Always have a fabulous time here.
Beautiful outlook
Room small. No view. Sink bad crack in it and on final morning fire alarm in room went off for no apparent reason
Reasonably priced
Room very small
Loved the four poster bedroom. Fantastic views across to Strangford. Excellent meal in restaurant.
Restaurant service extremely slow - maybe due to the bank holiday weekend. Breakfast next morning served only between 9 - 10. Service very slow. Problem if you needed away quickly.
