While Cambodian rural architecture has been extensively studied by leading researchers, they found the sad fact is that traditional housing has been disappearing at a too fast pace from the countryside and, obviously, from urban development.
At Dontrei Villa Angkor, we love these houses. Because they tell us of the Cambodian past, of the cleverness and humility of the past generations. Because they are things of beauty, harmoniously blending into their natural environment – sit on the balcony of any of our houses and you’ll get the feeling. And because they are surprisingly adapted to modern life, with the wooden walls gently absorbing the day heat, and releasing it at dusk.
Dontrei Villa Angkor founder and director Davy Chan, along with husband Ly and a team of carpenters, has rescued and repurposed some nine traditional houses since 2019. Some of the houses are from over 30-year old to 160-year old Cambodian traditional houses.
Gently dismantling these time-honored structures, moving them with care to our grounds, redesigning them while keeping their harmonious proportions, replacing damaged timber and roof tiles: this is a labor we undertake with our heart.

Ruhiger Aufenthalt in grüner Idylle außerhalb Siem Reaps
Pros:

Ruhig und abseits gelegen,, Restaurants, Geschäfte und Innenstadt nur per TukTuk erreichbar (ca 15 Min vom Old Market entfernt, $3), ca 1h 30 Min per TukTuk vom Flughafen entfernt ($25).
Frühstück a la Carte (all you can eat), aber sehr gut und reichlich. Ausflüge übers Hotel gebucht, zB Angkor Small Circle Tour (Tuktuk für 1 Tag, $20) oder Tonle Sap See (Tuktuk $20, nur Transport).
Alles in allem ein schöner Bungalow, gutes WiFi, gute AC, schöner eigener Pool mit Whirlpool Funktion, sehr geräumig, Wasserkocher, tägliche Reinigung.
Essen im Hotel gut und günstig.

Cons:

Der TV hat nicht funktioniert, die Nachbarn waren oft bis spätabends laut (Jungstruppe), dafür kann aber das Hotel nichts.
Das einzige Manko an dieser Unterkunft war das Bad, für diesen wunderschön hergerichteten Bungalow mit eigenem Pool eine Schande, eine kleine Nasszelle mit fleckigen Wänden und 0 Ablageplatz.

- Friendly staff

Cons:

- Bugs in the room (including in the bed). When I informed the staff (9pm) she said "oh ok sorry about that" I asked if she understood well and what am I supposed to do, the reply was: "Nothing"
- I asked for late check out (13:00 instead of 12:00) and while the room wasn’t book after (I’ve checked with the staff), the proposal was to pay an extra 50% of the room price
- The overall place deserves a better maintenance: garden not well maintained, door of my room was a bit broken, cleaning is not good

Cons:

Sur le service massage:
- il n’y a pas d’espace de massage? A part en chambre.
- aucune possibilité de se faire masser après avoir rendu la chambre.
C’est pour vous et pour nous anti-commercial.

Pros:

Es un lugar hermoso! Nuestra habitación era amplia y la decoración era muy linda. Los espacios del hotel son preciosos, todo da mucha paz, al estar lejos del centro no hay ruidos por lo que es ideal para descansar, además tiene restaurante por lo que no necesitas salir a comer todos los días (vimos algunos comentarios que decían que era caro, pero la verdad los precios nos parecieron bastante bien para estar dentro del mismo hotel y ahorrar el viaje al centro después de pasar todo el día caminando por los templos). Afuera del hotel hay tuk tuk estacionados, puedes arreglar con uno de sus conductores si quieres ir al centro, normalmente te van a buscar luego y te llevan a todos los lugares que quieras. Para los tour por los templos, en el hotel hay una tabla con los precios del tuk tuk dependiendo de lo que quieras ver. Nuestro universo arrepentimiento fue no pasar más días en este hotel. Respecto a la insonorización de las habitaciones, nos quedamos en la habitación nupcial y no escuchamos absolutamente nada durante la noche, las paredes son de concreto.

Cons:

La qualità del ristorante (per colazione e altri pasti) non è all'altezza della struttura. Per trovare altri ristoranti o caffè bisogna andare a siem reap.

Gorgeous Oasis
Pros:

One of the most beautiful places where I have ever stayed. Designed with exquiste taste, this place is an oasis in the suburbs of Siem Reap.

Cons:

The place is quite far from the city center, like a 20-30 minutes tuk tuk ride. But if you plan to focus on Angkor Wat and have a shorter visit in the city center, this shouldn't really matter.

Le bungalow avec sa piscine privative est incroyable. Le personnel et les piscines de l’hôtel font leur charme. Possibilité de faire laver son linge et de louer un scooter directement sur place. Le calme du lieu est parfait et proche 15 min du temple Angkor Wat..

Sehr unfreundlich schon fast abfällig. Man hat sich als gast nicht wohlgefühlt, eher das gefühl auf Schmitt und written beobachtet zu werden.

Servicepersonal war ok aber front desk managerin sehr unfreundlich..

Beim Kühlschrank Im Zimmer wurde stecker raus gezogen nach einer nacht um wohl den barbetrieb anzukurbeln.

Mit toller aussicht wird geworben. Jedoch schaut man auf bleche und hinterhöfe. Der platz zwischen Haus/Zimmer und hotelmauer
Wird als sperrmüllablage genutzt.
Gar nicht zu wmpfehlen.
Überall in cambodia waren unterkûnfte gut bis aussergewöhnlich.Das hier sollte ein schõner Abschluss werden hat sich aber als grosse enttäuschung entpuppt. Schade.
