Pros:

Tout était parfait.

Cons:

Seuls les tarifs sont très élevés (probablement lié à l'isolement géographique de l'hotel par rapport au reste du monde!).
Les repas ne sont pas très copieux, notamment les petits déjeuners.

Most wonderful staff, a true getaway, but needs some updating
Pros:

Beautiful grounds, wonderful staff, a true getaway. Sunset bar was divine. Gorgeous remote beach. So much potential for this property!

Cons:

No hot water in shower, no a la carte food options, loose tiles in pool

The Gem of Costa Rica!
Pros:

This hotel is unreal! I am fairly well-traveled, yet I have never seen a location like this. From start to finish, the trip was amazing - and since it looks like I’m one of the first to review this place, I’ll give as much detail as space allows...
We began in the small fishing town of Sierpe where we parked and met the hotel staff to travel by boat to the hotel (I was told you can also fly into Drake’s Bay) but I recommend the boat ride, as the hotel guides stopped regularly to point out the mangrove’s wildlife and we saw monkeys, sloths, birds, and crocodiles. From the mouth of the river, it was an exhilarating ride along the rainforest-clad coastline as we approached the hotel bay and then switched to a smaller boat with a cinematic and memorable beach landing at the hotel!

When we arrived, a welcome drink was waiting for us, and we planned our stay. I completed one day hiking in Corcovado and one day snorkeling. Hiking was great. My guide, Manfred, was such a delight and so knowledgeable on the area and the animals we saw. Word of caution - it was a long hike and I probably saw more animals on the hotel grounds than in the park (even tapirs - right in the hotel common area!!!) but it was still nice. The night hiking tour on the hotel trails was really cool, and we saw a completely different array of wildlife. It was a little daunting being in the jungle at night, but our guide was knowledgeable and confident, and that energy was palpable and calming. We had a delicious dinner included in the tour as well.

The next day we went to Cano Island. Of all the places I’ve snorkeled, this was by far the best, and was perfect for my sister who is a complete novice. Our guide was amazing. After the tour, the staff had a BBQ lunch set up right on the hotel beach for us, and it was a perfect day. During the rest of our stay, we mostly lounged by the pool and enjoyed the sunsets. Special thanks to the exceptional staff - Justin, Edward, Manfred, Erika, and Carla!

Cons:

I wish I had stayed longer... If I planned the trip again, I would have spent less time in other areas of the country and more time here (probably would give Tamarindo and Manuel Antonio fewer days). I think 4 nights/5 days would have been more ideal here.

Although the hotel was very comfortable, it is a little dated, but the staff told me that there will be major renovations this year on the rooms and common areas, and I look forward to visiting again and seeing those changes. The manager also mentioned there will be new research stations on site in collaboration with ocean and rainforest conservation groups, so I hope to visit again next year and enjoy these additions and stay a bit longer.
