Hotel Sumitel Sonam Lachung is located away from main market area and other Hotels. This place is quiet. Away from all buzz. View from Hotel is awesome. Surroundings from Hotel are straight from a movie shot.
They have restaurant which serves our needs.
This Hotel for the people who just want to enter, Enjoy piece full near by, Walk in quiet place, eat in Restaurant in Hotel, Sleep and Checkout.
Billing also proper. Other Hotels in Sikkim took 50 Rs per person [Order from Sikkim Government it Seems]. But this hotel didn't charge.
They can give toilet slippers, which can be used in rooms, as Lachung is very cold.
This is a request. Not a dislike.
We have to cross a temparary bridge to reach this Hotel. Once the new bridge gets ready we will reach this hotel early [As of now bridge construction going on]
It is a small hotel with limited staff, so we had kept your expectations very low, but it fell much below our low expectations.
Pros:
Decent rooms with clean bathrooms
Blower is available on extra charge
Location: Excellent view from rooms
Parking: They have parking available for 3-4 cars
Cons:
Food: Huge disappointment. They treat you as if you do not value at all. First night dinner was buffet (with very limited options, but that is fine.)
Next day morning we had to place order for breakfast. They offer Aloo Paratha, bread toast, omelette and tea. At least on day 1, we got all of these when placed an order. The disaster started from dinner onwards.
Dinner: We specifically asked for veg fried rice without paneer and mushroom as one of our friends is allergic to these two. And, to our surprise they bring fried rice with paneer. On questioning, the answer was “we generally do not add paneer in fried rice, but we added it today” What do you say to that.
Day2 breakfast: We placed order for the same 3 things that we had a day before (aloo paratha, omelette, and toast). They brought half cooked aloo paratha and omelette. A basic thing like bread was also not there, tissue papers were not there. We literally did not have breakfast despite paying for it. We asked for tea without sugar. They bring tea with loads of sugar. On questioning, they do not have any answer. We asked them to bring tea again. Again, tea came with sugar. By this time, we had given up on the hotel and their staff. We just checked out on Day 2 without any food.
Rasgulla served here was tasty, View was decent. Good value for money.
Some food items can be better. Need better bathroom mats. Bathroom can have more space for clothes. Water heater capacity could be improved.

Hospitality and positivity of the team. Mr. Birju is an excellent host and team has great positive attitude towards the guests. Must visit property.

Location is away from regular stay. Don’t have options for food . Due to new constriction the rooms are good.
Great hotel – clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff was excellent, especially Mr. Birju, who was very hospitable and helpful. Had a fantastic time.
The property is located at a very beautiful location where we have the view of the whole lachung.
Great service and above that great people.
