Very unique property with a lovely heritage feel to it, right in the middle of Al Balad. They have currently three different buildings, I stayed at the Beit Jokhdar. The suite is very spacious and extremely clean, with a super comfortable bed. The breakfast is great, a lot of traditional food served (foul, bread, falafel etc). The service is impeccable, specifically I would like to thank Asmath who was extremely helpful and kind. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Jeddah, a fantastic cultural experience with great comfort.
The price is very high considering the lack of facilities (heritage building with limitations). Also, no lifts available and some of the suites are located on the 5th floor.
The hotel is a window on history. It is in a series of restored buildings in the old city of Jeddah. It is how one imagines arabia should be.
When I arrived the US Energy Secretary was there for dinner. The place was crawling with security. I can understand why. The restaurant on the top floor is so good that I invited 18 guests for dinner there on the strength of the breakfast they served me in the morning.
Literally, everything
Nothing
I recently stayed at the hotel and was thoroughly impressed by its unique cultural vibe, elegant and luxurious interiors, and truly fantastic service. Every detail contributed to a memorable experience—from the artful décor that celebrated a rich cultural heritage to the meticulously maintained facilities that radiated sophistication. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. The warm ambiance and thoughtful touches created a perfect blend of comfort and style. Even though there were a couple of minor details, such as the occasional presence of bugs and slightly less soundproofing than expected, these were far outweighed by the many positive aspects that made my visit delightful. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an immersive and exceptional experience.
The location and the idea of renovating old houses and living the experience of residents of the past
Reaching the location is so hard even with Google Maps. Also, I would prefer that the hotel staff wear the traditional customs of the past not today's customs.
Breakfast was delicious but I it would be better if bread can be fresher.
Seamless experience from the booking through arranging the airport transfers and tour of the old city. Hotel staff was always responsive and made our short stay a great experience. Especially Mr Mohammed from the front desk who was always on had willing to help with anything we needed.
Lovely building we stayed in. Loved the toiletries.
The courtesy and attitude of the staff, the atmosphere of the house, the quality of service and of the food.
The property, our bedroom, customer service, the breakfast & dinner. Basically everything.
Nothing.
We decided to stay in Al-Balad rather than book one of the larger hotels on the waterfront and could not have been happier with our decision. Al-Balad Hospitality is a collection of beautifully restored town houses in the heart of Jeddah old town each named after the family who owned it. From your doorstep you can wander through the pedestrianized streets soaking up the atmosphere and exploring the local crafts, cafes and culture. The hotel is a true experience of Jeddah heritage and the team embody Saudi hospitality. They organised a tour for us last minute which was a highlight of our stay. Note that the breakfast is actually a three course traditional menu and we didn't need to eat again until the evening.
I had a wonderful and unique experience. They all made sure I felt the historical vibe of the area. I felt safe as a solo female traveler.
You have so much potential to be a world class tourist attraction
