El Establo

El Establo is fabulous. Between the bus station and downtown it is close to everything (10 min walk). Very clean and well organized. Fit us perfectly for our stay pre and post hiking. Muchos Gracias.

I prepaid for a one night stay at this hotel. However, on the morning of the scheduled stay, I received an e-mail indicating that the room would not be available due to some last minute repairs. I was told that they "upgraded" to a different hotel outside of the town center. I was also told to call them at a specific phone number. Since the main reason I had chosen this hotel in the first place was because they were close to the bus station where I would have a 7am departure, the changed location would not work. I immediately called them several times to try to explain why but there was nobody picking up the phone. At the time, I was at the Torres del Paine and ready to go out on the trail. As I would not have cellphone access for the rest of the day, I asked that they cancel the reservation and refund me the money sc they could not offer me the room I paid for. At the end of the day I returned to Puerto Natales. Seeing that I that I had not received any reply, I tried calling them again around 5pm. Again, there was no answer. Therefore, I went ahead and checked in at a different hotel. Around 6:30pm, I finally got a response, which said that, unfortunately, the number they gave me was not working at the time. Secondly, they said the room was now available at the original location. Since I had already checked in into a different hotel, I again asked for a refund but there has not been any response whatsoever ever since.

No one was available for check in, despite Expedia instructions. Facility was locked. We had to pay to go elsewhere for the night. Dont believe instructions sent by expedia.

It's classified as a Hostal and the area where it is located gave us pause but once you step in the property is excellent. Nice spacious rooms with amenities. Breakfast is delivered the prior night which makes planning the early morning trips easy. Even though the area around the Hostal is a bit run down we never felt unsafe, based on that would recommend.
