Comfortable large room and big bathroom with hot water. Good air-conditioning Very good breakfast, good vegetarian meals but limited variety. Good tree cover and beautiful environment. Very attentive service. Good massages. Stanley ( owner/manager) was easy to deal with. Good 'chill out' place for 5 days.

This hotel is located right on the beach, making it the perfect spot for a morning walk, watching the fishermen, or an evening stroll at sunset. The beauty of this beach lies in its wild, untouched charm—a truly special place to unwind. The lovely garden adds to the peaceful atmosphere.

The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, genuinely caring for the guests. Everyone made us feel welcome, and a special shoutout to Toni, who was always there to help and bring a smile to our faces! 🙏

Our spacious room came with a comfortable terrace facing the garden, perfect for relaxing. Though we stayed only one night, we felt very welcome and at ease.

The breakfast was delicious, and what made our stay even more special was arriving late to find the cook and staff still waiting for us, ready to prepare a wonderful dinner—such thoughtful hospitality!

Sure, the hotel could benefit from some renovations, but the kind owner is doing everything possible to maintain it after the pandemic while ensuring the staff keeps their jobs.

A truly welcoming place with a stunning location and warm-hearted people—highly recommended!

Great location right on the beach.
Perfect if you want a couple of days by the sea on an unspoiled and un touristy beach.
Breakfast is great.
As there’s not much around you can stay for supper which is good… if a little pricey.
Staff, Toni especially, is super helpful.

Right on the beach

We had the most amazing stay here! The best so far in Sri Lanka. For the price you get the most heartwarming staff that will help with everything. The food is good, the rooms are nice and clean. The area is so pretty and right at the beach with nice waves and no people. Tony, one of the staffmembers was super sweet, very helpful, and made sure we had an amazing stay. Thank you for having us, We will definitly come back!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We feld like royal family as they cared of us so much :). Our 5y old daughter doesnt want to leave as she loved it there. Especialy Toni, he was so nice.
Rooms was fine if you are not except luxury. Beach was ok, but not good for swimming.

I spent 4 full days here. The premises are idyllic and peaceful. I had to do some work on my laptop computer and was able to do so in the shade provided by one of the many beautiful Barringtonia asiatica trees. The overwhelmingly friendly and helpful waiter plus general service provider, Toni, moved a table out there for me.
I had local breakfast (string hoppers) and dinner (rice and curry) every day and was extremely pleased with what the cook, Sampath, prepared for me.
The jovial owner, Lal, is very attentive and always had a nice word or two for me, making me feel welcome all around.
Granted, there are whiter, broader, smoother beaches in Sri Lanka, but the town of Wadduwa offers two big advantages in my opinion: 1, it is not very touristic, so you when you stroll inland no one bothers you and you can witness regular Sri Lankan town life, and 2, the short distance to Colombo with what it has to offer in regard to shopping, eating, and services. And at Lavila beach cottage you can hear the waves breaking and go for a dip in the sea with moderate waves and no dangerous currents right outside the little gate at the end of the courtyard any time you like.

The host was such an amazing guy, funny and couldn't do enough to help us from finding train times, to educating me about money when I tried to give him way too much. He was quick to tell me to be careful. Very genuine man.

I recommend this as a place to visit if traveling around different spots. We did 1 night but would have been happy doing 2 to 3. Right on the beach front.

Everything, breakfast was amazing. Tony was the most helpful person, couldn't do enough for us. Very welcoming staff. Really enjoyed our visit here. Very peaceful and quiet place with entrance to the beach.
