Merits Hotel Cameron Highlands

When we checked in, we saw dead flies and bug remains in our room. The description for the room said it provided services like Netflix. However when we arrived, the hotel staff mentioned it was working up to a few days ago, and now the tv doesn't work anymore. Of course if you're traveling alone that didn't matter, but when you travel with kids, the highlight for them is also to lounge on the bed and binge watch tv. So that was a total bummer for my kids. So tv did not work for us for all 3 nights stayed. On top of that they mentioned they had one coway water machine, but since it's a public one used by everyone in the hotel, dont expect water when you try to get some. I got almost nothing from the water machine so I ended up buying mineral water during my stay too. The lift for the hotel also did not work during our stay so the staff helped me carry my bags up and down when we were there. At night, the hallways are usually noisy with children running up and down, knocking on doors and shouting about. In fact, our room walls were so thin that we can ever hear the next door family talking in their room. So sleep wasn't really easy on noisy nights and this could go on till 1-2am. During checkout, when I went ahead to collect my deposit (rm50) the front desk lady said they were some stains on the bed and mentioned to me she needed to deduct rm10 from my deposit. I mentioned to her the stains were merely from a few strawberries my kids ate, and obviously this can be washed off, but she proceeded to mention it couldn't and decided to deduct anyway. I felt like she scammed me, because I have stayed at many hotels and no one up till now had mentioned something stupid like this. But because I was leaving anyway, I just decided not to argue with her and left. In total, I would not return to this hotel.
