Location
No restaurant, no bar ,breakfast was cold glad I only had to stay 2night ,no atmosphere we came back early on our first night to watch the England game hoping to have a few drinks and watch the game in our room with a few drinks, bar was closed so went to room watched it with a coffee .We were never asked if we wanted a drink but having said that the bar was never opened.
The staff lovely and friendly and helpful and they moved our room to the first floor when they realised my husband used a walking stick. Room well furnished with plenty of sockets.
The breakfast was overcooked and the room was not serviced during our two night stay.
Great location. Comfortable bed . Clean bedrooms. Great value. Welcoming and friendly to the hotel guests. Will be back and staying here again for our next trip.
Lovely hotel with plenty of history, kept the charm just right. Very helpful staff & Manager Gorgeous room ,comfy bed with great pillows. Great breakfast with wonderful selection of hot & cold choices.
Parking at the top of a steep side road.
Lovely room. Fantastic stay. Can't wait for full cave experience!
Brilliant staff - nothing too much trouble.
Excellent breakfast.
Will definitely visit again. 😀
Nothing.
breakfast was superb - and all locally sourced
Lunch and dinner will be available shortly once the kitchen has been upgraded
My single room was typical Victorian. as in the entire hotel, being listed .... everything provided and very comfortable
Chris the owner and family have exciting plans for the hotel to develop it further, including a genuine authentic Cave Bar
I much look forward to returning soon I hope!!
Thank you so for making my stay so enjoyable and welcoming
Stuart
nothing at all
Good breakfast plenty of choice. The building is Georgian, with original Georgian and Victorian fittings, real character.A good head of pressure on the shower. The manager gave me a interesting tour of some old mine workings that are accessed directly from the building.Originally a coaching inn it was bought by a wine merchant to keep the wine at a constant 9°C,of course the workings are not accessible by guests.Although overlooking the main street secondary double glazing kept the room quiet,it was good to look out at all The coming and going, getting the holiday vibe
We loved the Victorian style decor and all the authentic details
Lovely hotel ,very welcoming hosts couldn't do enough for you ,perfect breakfast, the whole experience was fantastic
Great location and staff who really cared especially Donna. Great breakfast.
A well located hotel, like stepping back in time. Furnishings and panelling go back to the 19th century, making this hotel different from the norm. That said it is run by very friendly and helpful people and the breakfasts are quite simply excellent.
Nothing.
It’s a really quirky place- but with lots of atmosphere. What made it (other than some fine cooked breakfasts and a great range of options) was the cave at the back of the hotel which was fascinating. Thought it would be super noisy- especially as it’s right outside the main road through Matlock Bath- which is heaving in the daytime. However, the double glazed windows reduced much of it and the place is pretty quiet after 9pm.
Room was a bit too warm when we arrived. If you don’t like Victorian quirky hotels, this may not suit, but we really enjoyed it.
