Somoto Canyon Hostal

Je ne sais pas comment décrire cette expérience tant les mots me manquent ! Juan et sa famille sont tout simplement les personnes les plus chaleureuses que nous avons rencontrées au Nicaragua. Nous nous sommes sentis comme à la maison. J’avais un pincement au cœur en les quittant, car on se sent vite faire partie de leurs amis / de leur famille.

J’ai apprécié que Juan veille toujours à ce que nous nous sentions en sécurité. Il s’est chargé de faire le lien avec le chauffeur de taxi (Merci Abado) qui est un contact de confiance, en nous organisant le trajet aller-retour depuis la gare routière de Somoto.

J’ai aussi apprécié le fait de pouvoir loger, manger et faire l’activité du canyon (bouée + retour à cheval) avec un seul interlocuteur. Nous nous sommes sentis pris en charge…de vraies vacances.

J’aimerais pouvoir exprimer à Juan, Nora, Alexis et toute la famille notre gratitude. Même si nous parlons un peu espagnol, j’aurais aimé leur dire à quel point ils ont marqué notre séjour par leur gentillesse, leur douceur et leur accueil.

Je vous recommande de passer par cet hostal ainsi que de réserver votre tour avec Juan. Le tour a été une expérience inoubliable, avec son fils, son chien et Wilson qui nous a tractés en bouée et el gran Catarino pour les chevaux. Merci à eux. À 1000 %, n’hésitez pas, on sent que c’est une communauté de confiance. Je continuerai de recommander son contact encore et encore depuis la France à tous ceux que je connais et qui veulent visiter le Nicaragua ! ✨🫶

Juan, his wife and Henry the guide all did a wonderful job and I had a great stay and a marvellous tour in the canyon. Thank you also to Jordy, who picked me up on his moto, and Simon, who made sure I got the photos. All good people :-)

Juan and family were very welcoming and we had an adventure with him canyoning down Somoto Canyon. We could sit on the porch and enjoy the hummingbirds and listen to the frogs. Food was well cooked and plentiful

Sounds of nature helped us sleep very well.

Lovely stay with Juan and his family. This place is really a home stay and not a hostel, which was a pleasant surprise for me. I had tremendous fun jumping and swimming down Somoto Canyon with Juan on his tour. Delicious (and inexpensive!) meals by his wife. I extended my stay an extra night it was so pleasant. Cool air in the evenings, and warm during the day. Far enough off the highway to barely hear the trucks going by. Great WiFi to watch Netflix. What a wonderful introduction to Nicaragua this was!

Juan and his family are very kind, warm and generous. It was a pleasure to meet them and rest in their tranquil house. The food was great, as well as the tour we took with them. Really authentic and unique experience!

Juan and his family were beautiful hosts. We were welcomed into their home with open arms. Great value for money with meals included. Lots of spots to sit back, relax with a book. The canyon was a great day out exploring the canyon swimming, cliff jumping and hiking. Home stays are a great way to see the authentic Nicaragua. Thank you Juan!!

The family running the hostel is so kind and warm. They try to accommodate all your needs. The food they serve is local and tasty. Simple facilities but functional. Located in a quiet area surrounded by cows, horses, dogs, chickens, cats... it's a nice countryside experience. They have a porch where you can relax after exploring the canyon or riding a horse.
