A perfect blend of tradition and modern comfort in the heart of Kyoto!
Pros:

Our stay at Hotel Ethnography was truly exceptional. The first thing that stood out was the staff; they are incredibly kind, helpful, and their English is excellent, which made communication seamless and our stay much more enjoyable.

The rooms are beautiful, featuring a unique and tasteful blend of modern European style and traditional Japanese aesthetics. It felt both authentic and very comfortable. We also loved the breakfast—it was varied, fresh, and absolutely delicious every morning.

Location-wise, it couldn't be better. It’s a peaceful area but very well-connected. We were just a short walk from Gion and iconic sites like Kiyomizu-dera (only 20 minutes away on foot). Plus, having bus stops and the train station so close made exploring the rest of Kyoto incredibly easy. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this magical city

Nice small, quiet and friendly hotel for a perfect stay in Kyoto.
Pros:

We liked the typical decoration, the friendliness of the staff and the location. The neighbourhood was quiet and centrally located. The staff was very helpful with restaurant reservations and laundry.

Cons:

It was not easy to find the first time we arrived in Kyoto. The hotel is also a nursery, which we did not realise when we first booked it online. Still, it was extremely quiet. The view from the room was not exceptional, but you are well located nonetheless.

Newly purposed-built hotel with excellent attention to detail and tasteful Kyoto decor touches. Luxuriously comfortable.
