Very pleasant stay. Good evening meal and lovely breakfast.
Pros:

The food in the bar was lovely and the atmosphere was very good. Breakfast was also very pleasant. Not a characterful castle but very well converted and overall a good and easy choice especially for an early ferry crossing with free parking.

Cons:

Nothing - everything was good.

Staying at Clontarf Castle was beautiful. We enjoyed the environment very much indeed.
Pros:

The decor at Clontarf Castle was exceptional. Our room was spacious and bright and cheery. Bedding was beautifully comfortable. The staff were all cheerful, welcoming and very accommodating. Access to the City by bus was convenient, just a short walk to the bus stop and frequent service. The front desk ordered us a taxi pick up for the airport with no problem at all ... quick and efficient The staff on duty when we left gave us a small box of chocolates for our journey ... a nice touch!

Cons:

The only thing which let down our room was mold at the base of the shower cubicle. A personal dislike is buffet food, Breakfast was offered buffet style. We were offered a menu on our first morning but not on our second. Although full Irish breakfast was offered buffet style, we ordered from the menu. Fresh cooked is far more appealing - hot and fresh - than buffet food which is very difficult to keep hot ... Our second day's breakfast, we were not offered the menu from which to order. We went with the buffet but scrambled eggs were not very nice ... cold and the texture was not nice. I mentioned my dislike of buffet style to the maitre d/host on our first morning and he agreed it is difficult to keep food hot in the buffet.
