I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a deeply frustrating and unacceptable experience tied to a recent booking made through your platform. I had booked a single deluxe room at Brahmaputra Hotel in Dhubri, Assam, with the clear understanding that payment would be made at the property using my credit card. However, shortly after making the reservation, I was repeatedly contacted by an agent named Kaushik from Today Hospitality India Private Limited. Over several days, I received persistent and unsolicited emails and messages pressuring me to make an advance payment, along with warnings that my booking would be cancelled if I failed to do so.
This constant harassment left me with little choice but to transfer INR 3000 directly to their account, despite this not being the agreed payment method. Upon checking in and reviewing the hotel’s actual tariff, I discovered that the room rate was INR 2301, meaning I was effectively charged nearly 50% more than the listed price. In total, I ended up paying INR 3733 for a room that should have cost significantly less.
I was traveling for business, and this entire experience significantly affected my state of mind during the trip. Instead of focusing on my professional commitments, I found myself dealing with the stress and frustration of being misled and overcharged. This experience feels deceptive and unethical. I trusted Booking.com as a reliable platform, and instead found myself pressured into overpaying through an external agent who misrepresented the situation. This not only caused financial loss but also considerable inconvenience and distress.
I request the following actions from your end:
- A full investigation into the conduct of this agent and their association with your platform
- A refund of the excess amount charged to me.
