Overall a pleasant stay

I never usually write a review... but this place was so bad! Hotel stated Parking was available? Parking is about 5 spaces, none of which very secure or what I'd deem a parking space? I'd booked online through booking.com and about an hour before I turned up. No one on reception when I turned up, only the Porter (was 6.30-7pm). He called someone, I assume the person that takes the bookings to confirm I'd arrived. Confusion started here, I was told I hadn't booked for that date, and was booked in for the following night? This was obviously a mistake - as I had the booking confirmation to confirm I was correct by email. There was a bit of back and forth with who ever the Porter was speaking to on the phone - and I was asked a few questions for the second and third time - when did I book it? What date? etc. At that point I should have just walked away, but only stayed because I'd already paid online and there were no refunds apparently! When I eventually got my room key I could see why there wasn't a refund or cancellation policy - it is without doubt the worst room/hotel I've ever stayed in! And I was a student for 4 years, so have seen some pretty bad hotels and accommodations! Room didn't even feel safe or secure? There was a gap of about 30mm under the door you could almost reach a hand through? The cold breeze that came under was so bad I had to block it with the extra blanket that was in the storage cupboard - that was so dirty I wouldn't have used anyway! Shower was cold, curtains filthy (as per hotel in general)! Also my room was located at the back of the hotel (104) - so to get back out to reception area I had to walk across the function area where entertainment was going on every time I went out? The noise at night in the hotel made it impossible to sleep - the doors are big heavy fire doors, so slam shut every time they are open and closed. Could go on and on here - I scored this hotel a 1....

The hotel was in an ideal location,easy walk to sightseeing & the pier,the evening bar staff were friendly

The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help , the hotel is clean ,its an old building but its full of character, we had breakfast which was very tasty , plenty of choice and hot ! Great location for shops and restaurants and the pier .. and the prom is just opposite.. qe had a stunning view from our room and would happily book the same room again . We had 5 rooms booked for the weston beach race and had no complaints
