Very handy for a stopover near the M6. Nice old fashioned building, lovely garden and terrace.
The charming night porter who was there when I stayed before may have retired. The guy who was on made Basil Fawlty look like the host of the century. Situation was resolved eventually but it wasn't the best experience when I first arrived.

Wir dürften in einem separaten Raum mit unserem Hund zum Dinner.
Sehr aufmerksames Personal beim Dinner und Frühstück.
Es wäre schade wenn solche Hotels verschwinden.
Schließung der Fenster... Es ging nicht richtig zu, war sehr undicht.
Die Bedienung der Wasserarmatur der Dusche ist nicht ganz einfach, da stehst du dann unter heißem Wasser.
Nice room,staff and hotel
Let down by a tiny evening menu (6 items) and awful food. Half cooked/half raw Veg including a whole carrot not even peeled properly, hard dry roast potatoes, beef all fatty and over cooked, luke warm gravy and a spongy yorkshire. Food half left and cost removed from bill. Breakfast was nice,but the evening meal felt as if it had been done by inexperienced staff. After a long day, having to drive to another food outlet wasnt ideal.

Staff were exceptionally friendly helpful and the place offers old stool charm and hospitality. We enjoyed breakfast and since we booked this last minute as an alternative to a terrible experience elsewhere we were blown away by the quality for the price. A lovely garden and a welcome drink were nice bonuses. Very convenient and enjoyable.
Mostly lovely, but the z bed for our little one was a bit too soft and our room felt a little bit 'back of house' but more than nice for the price. Since we were just looking for somewhere to recharge for the night, it very much exceeded expectations.
Used for access to the The Open being held at Southport. We were contacted by the hotel a few weeks before asking if we would like an early breakfast on the day we were travelling in the morning. This was fantastic and really above and beyond. Room was large and comfortable
